Shovel Pruned Virused Rose: Can I replant?

I finally made the decision to shovel prune Maria Stern. It broke my heart because she has such pretty blooms when she does bloom, but she struggles along to give me any of those and the leaves have looked worse this year.

I struggled with this problem and kept vacillating about it the last couple years. Then I thought, well, either do it or don't and stop going back and forth. So, I did...

I plan to replant in the same spot though, a Livin' Easy rose. I have already prepared the hole as best I could. I tried to get out all the soil I could (there are daylilies and campanula's planted around though. I replaced all that soil with compost, top soil, cow manure, and peat moss.

Will the old left over roots from Maria Stern die over winter here if there are any left down there?

Will the new rose (buying at Roses Unlimited) get the virus? I hope not, but I couldn't take looking at those leaves anymore and the sparse blooms.
