Good soil test lab

Finally a soil test lab that gives reports in term home gardeners can understand!

Dr. Steven Cline owns and operates a Soil Test Lab in St. Louis. His tests are very different from those of most other labs in that he supplies reports in 100 or 1000 square feet while all others usually give those reports in per acre measurements for farming. This requires us to do some math while we try to figure out how much to put in our smaller rose beds.

His recommendations are in common household measurements such as cups, teaspoons, tablespoons ounces and pounds. Fertilizers and soil amendment recommendations are given by brand name to make it easier for the average home gardener. A soil test kit, containing a soil sample bag, instructions on collecting a soil sample, and a prepaid mailer are included. When ordering on-line at www.drgoodearth.com you pay for the kit with a credit card and everything is included in the price.

He did say fall is the best time to submit soil samples. Business is very slow now and through winter so they can get the results back faster.

For really fast response, you can request the report via e-mail.

A good idea as often fertilizers and soil amendments are on sale in the fall. Many amendments take time to work so a fall application can sit all winter doing its thing.
