Roses in early May in Chicago and New York?
Comments (2)Early May in Chicago is a little early for roses, but the bulbs and peonies and maybe rhododendrons will be in full bloom as well as crapapples, cherries, some late magnolias, etc. Great gardens: Chicago Botanic Garden (a great rose garden), probably not in full bloom: http://www.chicago-botanic.org/ Garfield Conservatory (west side of Chicago): http://www.garfieldconservatory.org/ Lincoln Park Conservatory (trendy north side of Chicago): http://www.chicagoparkdistrict.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/parks.detail/object_id/45AA3ED2-7C6F-4461-83B2-29CB991637E6.cfm...See MoreAny daylily afficionados in central New York?
Comments (4)Hi phylrae, I live near Binghamton. I have some daylilies, a lot to some people (75+), but a pittance to "serious" collectors. I would love to trade in the spring. Most of what I have is on my exchange page, but that list needs to be updated. I don't have many spiders ('Stoplight' and 'Lady Neva' and 'Twiggy' come to mind right away - 'Lady Neva' is HUGE, and gorgeous), and only a few UFs, but I have some real BOLD ones if you're interested. Listing favorites is kind of like asking which child I love best, but I have some I never get tired of seeing: 'Night Beacon,' 'Bright Sunset,' 'Ida Miles,' 'Green Eyed Pat,' 'Winter Chill,' 'Dallas Star,' and I could go on and on. GEP was amazing this past year. Laurel...See MorePeach Drift rose in summer 14 at the New York Botanical Garden.
Comments (12)Yes Beth. I can guarantee you great fragrance. The peach and apricot are often confused. But peach drift is definitely fragrant. I have had four years experience with it. I do recognize that we can't all smell the same scents. But I would be surprised if this fragrance is not recognized. Enjoy your trip to Chamblees. I bought two of my eight peach drifts there. I'm heading there in March so I can see the blooms on the plants. I'm out of room, but I'm taking friend there to enable her. She only has ten roses!!!...See Morebest plum variety for 5b (Central New York)
