"Remove yellow and heavily spotted leaves from the plant and, most important, from the soil around the base of the plant. Those leaves carry a fungus that can overwinter, so they must be removed from the garden. It is best to bag them up (do not put them in the compost). Early fall can bring another round of flowers, but the dew that comes with the cool nights and warm days can lead to powdery mildew. Best to apply a milk spray (one part milk to seven parts water) preventatively."
