Beneficial Nematodes for Midge?

(I've also posted this on the Antique Rose Forum....)

I've had a terrible infestation of midge this summer, must have brought it in on some plants from the nursery last year. I had very few blooms, and I have over 60 roses:( I spent the summer cutting off affected tips and disposing of them in the household trash, sealed, as this was one of the strategies suggested in previous posts. The Montreal Botanical Website advises turning up the soil in late fall to expose the larvae to freezing temperatures, so I'll do that too.

I was also planning on trying Beneficial nematodes in the spring, early May or thereabouts. Any thoughts on this? Has anyone heard of any other new organic treatments? Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks in advance,

Judith
