blackspot truly fatal

Hi. I am familiar with the foliar consequences and appearance of blackspot. However, does it really kill a rose? If my roses are defoliating but still putting on new growth will they be ok? Evidently now is not the time to be pruning. Matter of fact, local rosarians tell me not to add winter protection until there have been two nights of 28 degree lows.

I am enjoying this forum so much. Have found two old cemeteries but they are mow and blow victims. The graves dated to the early 1800s and the monuments for the children were just beautiful little sheep and angels.

Kinda made me put blackspot in perspective...

Thanks y'all.

Susan
