Thank you for you offer. I am new to this forum, but have been on Gardenweb for several years. I would love to trade cuttings for any cuttings of your roses that would grow in hot weather. It reaches the triple digits here sometimes in the summer. I have planted trees to make it more comfortable for the roses in the extreme heat. I don't have many rose cuttings, I've been waiting to add those to my garden. I do have a miniature red rose, a David Austin St. Cecilia rose, and a miniature rose with orange blooms that are medium sized. I'm sorry it doesn't have a tag;I bought it through the Penny Saver. Other plants I can trade include: perwinkle, purple irises, aloe vera, strawberry runners, cherry red geraniums, purple geraniums, dusty miller, and some pretty conifers that would probably root. I also have lots of vegetable seeds:heirloom zucchini, heirloom tomatoes, cucumber, and Cinderella pumpkins. Later in the season I will have lots of hollyhock seeds. They look beautiful in with the roses! Please let me know, and I will get these off to you in the mail, Stephenie

I have Night Light in my front yard. It is doing okay, but it suffered considerably after the Easter freeze. I have had to cut it back quite a bit, and I am not done yet. On the whole, it is usually pretty hardy. It has somewhat better than average disease resistance, but benefits from spraying. It blooms intermittently throughout the season. The color is yellow with red petal edges that turn over time to more red. There isn't much fragrance. In terms of growth habit, it is definitely the wild child. It gets very long canes in all directions. These canes have some of the most wicked thorns imaginable and will never be in short supply. It is a good climber as climbers go, but you practically need a suit of armor if you are going to work around it. Thanks, everyone! Some great choices! I am leaning toward Autumn Sunset and Prairie Sunrise for yellow/orange. Has anyone seen George Burns? Wow, what stripes. Unfortunately, it also says susceptible to black spot. Oranges and Lemons is another one that looks great in pics. Are roses less likely to get sick in containers? I have considered getting one of the less resistant ones and keeping it in a container. I am trying to be extra careful about getting hybrid teas because of bs. Sultry is very attractive, but listed as black spot susceptible. Tahitian Sunset is listed as blackspot resistant (all these Sunsets, quite confusing!) Rainbow Sorbet is interesting and your pic is terrific, Karen. I think I will wait til Roseleaf has had hers longer to see how it does- her climate is closer to mine. Why is it that I don't even have my bed dug out and already I am wondering if I'll have enough room? This despite the fact that I already tripled the planned size??? And my big fall project is going to be building the trellis. I really have to exercise some restraint! I want to enjoy my plants, not be owned by them. Brandy

I haven't ordered during this sale because my pot ghetto is already too big--especially with newly-arrived salvias, destined to be rose companions. Unfortunately, I discovered a great new source of unusual and fragrant salvias (great for my area) called Flowers by the Sea. Did order from Heirloom in August and received in September these: Kraskoje Kawaskole, gallica (Eurodesert inventory) Siwa, canina hybrid (Eurodesert inventory) Nymphe Tepla, reblooming rambler/setigera cross (Eurodesert inventory) Limelight, ht Oklahoma, ht Eglantyne, Austin Little White Pet, polyantha Kraskoje Kawaskole is an intriguing gallica, and there doesn't seem to be much info available on it. I got the only one Heirloom had. So far it is growing like a maniac! Put in a 1 gallon pot in September, soon after arrival, it was more than ready to graduate into the ground when I did so last Saturday. I'm hoping it will sucker all over the place in true gallica fashion. Looks the picture of health. Siwa is a lovely Rudolph Geschwind rose and a hybrid of the dog rose, which has always appealed to me. Don't know if she sets hips, but I hope so as I like to snack on them.;) Check out Cliff O's pic of her on HMF. So pretty a flower. Nymphe Tepla is supposed to be a seedling of the very classical de la Grifferaie and very similar except she reblooms. Plus she has a dash of R. setigera, a native American wild rose. When I removed Nymphe Tepla from her band pot I was simply amazed at the extensive roots she had. Into a gallon container she went in September, and when I planted her over the weekend those roots were already growing well outside the bottom of the pot. I can't wait to see what she does with some freedom to expand! Limelight I chose because I like yellow, the pretty flower form, lots of fragrance, bushy growth habit, and bred by Kordes. Oklahoma is a rose I remember with fondness from my childhood, is loaded with fragrance, and the beautiful dark color is one I like. Eglantyne is an Austin I've long covetted--seing her looking spectacular in the neighborhood prompted the purchase now. Little White Pet is a diminutive cutie which has looked good everywhere I've seen it. Now as to what other have on order. Golden Globe tempts me greatly. And I'm really curious about the Rolf Sievers alba, Golden Blush, so I hope you will post how this one does Tammy. Geheimrat Dr. Mittweg would be worth getting for the name alone. Heavenly Pink I saw at Eurodesert and was very impressed. Every time I passed it, it was covered in trusses of pink flowers, A+. Werner von Blon was growing on what I think was the east side of Cliff's house so appeared to be in a fair amount of shade. That purple color was most striking. On my wish list for the future. Other Eurodesert roses that I think are standouts are St. Elisabeth of Hungary. I think she will become a true classic. Flowers are big and luscious, heavily scented, and profusely-produced. She is a BIG plant and seems wonderfully healthy. Check out the pics on HMF. Petite Francoise is an absolutely charming little polyantha that lives to flower. Cute as a bug, covered in little pink seashell blossoms. Omi Oswald is a very primitive looking hybrid musk, with pale yellow single flowers, looks like a species rose. Flowers are fragrant and oh so attractive to bees--to the point they look like they're in ecstasy, yep drunk looking, happy bees! Blooms have a pretty pompom of stamens in the center, somewhat like a hibiscus in appearance. Mine was blooming again last week. I don't know, there were so many roses at Eurodesert that impressed me, it is hard to decide which ones to get first. Joe Grey is another I intend to order, he's a dense round mound of green all the way to the ground (invisible knees!), dotted with purple flowers. Melissa
