Suggestions Wanted for Red Rose With Attitude

I am looking into planting a twenty-five foot row of roses. I have a list of qualities I'd like. I don't know if all these qualities come in the same plant. I was wondering if anyone might suggest varieties that resemble what I'm after. I would consider an alternating row of two varieties so as to get a longer total bloomtime.

The site is a west facing stone wall in USDA zone 4. The wall is the exterior of a heated building. I am hoping it will moderate winter temps for the roots. The soil is not bad, and I am planning to add some organic matter before planting.

The desired qualities are:

* Strong red flower color

* Many or large thorns are desirable

* potential height of five to eight feet or so.

* long bloom time or potential for repeat bloom.

* At least some scent. Lots of scent would be good.

* Some resistance or tolerance to disease. They are

unlikely to get much maintenance once they are established.

* Must tolerate meltwater from a sidewalk that is salted in winter.

I had been considering Rosa Rugosa varieties, they have good thorns and can take the salt. However they seem to top out around four feet tall and don't appear to come in red. Suggestions anyone?
