Maman Cochet WOWSERS!
Comments (9)Maman Cochet and all her gang are among my favorite roses; bulletproof to grow and blooms to die for. In addition to the bush forms, I have 2 climbing forms: Maman Cochet and Cl White Maman Cochet. Both are great and when they bloom, those gorgeous blooms hanging from my pergola, well, it just doesnt' get any better. I also really really like Niles Cochet; great rose....See MoreHAVE: Cl Maman Cochet to good home
Comments (5)They are yours, Ariel. I am quite busy this week but when I can I will pull them out, cut them back and get back in touch with you when they are ready to transport. Best in a van or truck. The pots are large. Veronica...See MoreMaman Cochet cl - Does this look right?
Comments (8)Thank you all so much for your input. I really was unsure of whether this rose was the correct one. I did check the nursery website and it does indeed carry the Mrs Woods and the Mt. Vernon Purple noisette roses. Thank you Jeri for that photo. It does look very similar. I will ask the nursery about it. I do think the noisette is a pretty rose just surely not what I was expecting lol as I have been waiting anxiously for my very first Tea rose bloom :) Here is a photo of the only other bud that it has on it right now. Not sure if it is helpful but I will post it. I think it will open in a few days. It had several buds but I pinched most of them off to put less strain on the rose but wanted to let a few open for identification purposes plus hey, I was super excited too :D The greener leaves at the top of the bud and to the right of it belong to this plant....See MoreDoes your Maman Cochet ball?
Comments (16)bart - to answer your question about my Niles Cochet (which I believe is a color sport of MC), what I meant by "a little balling in the Spring" (sorry I was not more clear) was that, if our Spring (which here is Feb - May) is damp or drizzly for several days, or rainy, NC does ball. However, mostly our Springs are very clear and dry after March, so she does not ball then. So, it all depends on the weather. When she does ball, I usually just cut off the offending blooms, and then when the weather clears up she puts out more flowers. She repeats a lot during our hot dry summers, and then there is no problem with balling. The Fall flush is also usually fine. In case the info is of any use, my plant of NC is a rooted cutting off a bush growing a block away from my house which is in the neglected old garden of a cottage which is over 100 years old, and was owned by the same family for 90+ years. The old garden is full of old roses - I noticed banksia lutea, Belle Portugaise, some sort of china, and of course Cecile Brunner, in addition to the very large mature bush of NC. About 15 years ago the very elderly man of the original family, who still owned the cottage, knocked on my front door wanting to know if my FIL still lived there - he used to play with him when they were children around 1920! Jackie...See Morejerijen
