We've very different zones, but if you have BS issues avoid Mme. Sancy de Parabere. She's a magnet. I found her to be an odd shape as well. Also, the only rose where the JBs went after the leaves and they were all over her. I had once bloomers to her right and left and they didn't touch the leaves on either of them. She's getting shovel pruned this spring.

If you can't plant them right away they will be fine, just keep them cool and dry. I would not keep them out side. Leave them in the box(leave the box open for air circulation) in your house. I would soak them in a bleach solution before planting and remove any roots that are mushy or moldy. Water them well after planting and then don't water them at all, untill you see new growth (a new leaf growing up from the center of the fan). I know the no water after planting seems wierd, but too much water plus heat and humidity is a breeding ground for bacterial soft rot which will kill your plants. When planting in mid summer this is a concern. Spring and fall planting is best for bareroot daylilies. If I plant in the summer I think it is best to put them in a pot, so you can move them around to keep them out of full sun, and keep them dry untill the roots are established, then in fall you can plant the whole thing like a potted DL you would buy from a nursery. They tend to take off better if you do it this way. I have lost a couple this year by just planting them in the ground in full sun. So I have learned my lesson, and wanted to share a better way with you! Good luck with your daylilies, they are wonderful. They only get better with time! I hate it but I don't have enough sunshine to create a garden in exile. I do a tomato & basil bed and if I get tired of them (fat chance!) I guess that might do. But my tomato plants have produced fruit into November in the past so it is worth it to me to spare that sunny spot. I did get a bit of a sore shoulder out of my frenzy...but managed to absorb some Vitamin D working in that South Carolina sunshine. Good for my bones but probably added a wrinkle or two. Oh well.... As far as the replacements...let me think. Queen Mab was one. The Bukavu and Sibelius I got from Cliff went into the front of one bed. I also finally planted Centenaire des Lourdes....and a couple other Delbards that I had here waiting for space. Time to go water them! Carole

If you have an out of the way place they won't bother you, you could move them there. If the own-root roses have gotten established, they can be a horrific task to remove. Don't replant soon so you have a chance to clear out *all* the suckers first. This can take a while, but if you don't, they can come back and take over from a new rose trying to get established, and you may not be able to tell the difference. While some of the albas are great shrubs, some of them blackspot as badly as any HT out there.
