Has anybody tried this?

My roses are devoid of leaves--most of them. I have some containers and tried this first. I have lots of white butterflies that seem to be doing all of the damage. Anyway, I bought some green nylon netting and put that around the container roses, and they seem to be forming new leaves without getting chewed up. I am not a sprayer, I might add. Of course, the netting gets torn up, but at least they will be going into winter with some leaves. I also put some alfalfa in the soil to help. Have any of you had experience with this? I have too many to do it everywhere. I just picked the ones that seem to be worse. Thanks for any comments. - Barb
