Hybrid tea acts like a floribunda?
Comments (15)Taoseeker, this rose is INCREDIBLY fragrant when newly opened. Oklahoma, is beside it and is not as boldly smelly. Spent blooms are moderate or mildly fragrant. Jeri- yes i read your Blue Girl Monster post with great interest. I truly thought this was CL blue moon (offspring of Sterling silver) until i read that yours had stiff tall canes. Until we deadheaded/pruned all the lower roses off this bush, and cleaned out some rusty spots it was pretty uniform and about as tall as wide. Plenty of bloom low down. Roseseeker, i didnt realize even HTs can bloom in sprays. Thanks for informing me that it's not that HTs wont spray like a FL , but rather Floribundas wont long stem. Also- i am unable to see any ash on my cuttings but they traveled in a wet towel. ;-/. Pics coming soon!!...See MoreWhat is your favorite mauve Hybrid Tea?
Comments (51)The bloom opened. Pretty flower: loosely quartered (similar to Comte de Chambord), lightly fragrant, and clear lilac*. Good, strong stem. The color and fragance was disappointing but this is a first year own root plant. I'll give it another year or two for the plant to mature before making a final judgment. The plant itself is still tiny, but bigger than four other own roots in the same pot ghetto. Only the Bourbon DUEL DE DR. REYNAUD is bigger, and it is a climber. It is also one of the few babies that has foliage. I don't spray the roses in my pot ghetto because I want to be able to accurately access their black spot resistance before planting. You'd be surprised at how many of the babies never make it into the beds. * I define lilac as lavender with a noticeable pink undertone....See MoreYour favorite non-Kordes/non-Meilland hybrid tea?
Comments (15)without a doubt---LOUISE ESTES. Everything I want in a HT. Good looking bush from top to bottom. Beautiful foliage, long cutting stems, one of the most beautiful blooms I have ever seen and it smells great. I have never seen a picture of this rose that does it any justice. You have to see it in person to understand what I mean. Now it gets tough. #2 would be MOONSTONE---Some good shots on HMF. #3 is BRINESSA---Beautiful smoky pink blooms on a good bush. Foliage like leather. Getting a little tough to find now aday....See MoreOlder hybrid teas and floribundas
Comments (26)Lovely pictures of some classic beauties! I drool every time I see a picture of Dainty Bess...not sure why I've never grown it, but need to add it to my wish list. Most that I grow have already been pictured, but here are a few that haven't: Kaiserin Auguste Viktoria (1891) Francis Dubreuil (1894) Gruss an Aachen (1909) Night (Lady Sackville) 1921 Rubyait (1946) Fragrant Cloud (1963) Electron (1970)...See MoreRelated Professionals
