Has anyone seen Double Pink Knock Out in the nurseries yet?

I talked to a local nursery awhile back to see if they would be getting them. They said they would as soon as the grower released them, which they were guessing would be two or three weeks. It's been about four weeks now and they still haven't gotten them in. I was just wondering if anyone has seen them in their area?

Yes, nurseries in the DC area have had them this year, although the one I deal with Maryland sold out of them. Personally, I prefer the regular Pink Knockouts. I have two of the red Doubles and they need to be deadheaded and the blooms start looking pretty bad when they start fading. Just my $0.02.

Thanks, Barb. Did they have them in the spring or did they get them later on? I remember when the Double Red Knockouts came out, they got them much later than the other roses, but I don't think it was quite this late.

Was at L's yesterday trying to buy wood-crafting tools they don't even sell (go figure!) and the few TC's left were on clearance. The $10 were $5 and the $3 plants were .50. Although there were several bigger ones with white, very white flowers, even I couldn't rationalize such a purchase with the present-budget. So I got 7 little .50 ones with the lightest colored buds. For $3.50, worth waiting for a year to see what they open to, assuming all of these buds will fall off as I'm expecting. I also picked up all of the broken pieces from the floor & stuck them in the tray. A few look promising, and total mysteries regarding flower color. Now, where in the world am I going to put these things? I'm pretty sure I'll be cutting more/bigger holes in the sides of hanging baskets & sticking them in those. Seriously no room for any more pots!

Thanks, tmac and bellarosa! tmac, I have been out of town for the last few days, and I just came back home. On my way back from the airport, I stopped by Lowe's and found the 1 gallon pot of F&E RED! I thought that I must come and post this for you, only to see this post! I guess Lowe's has a better deal then, at $14.99! However, I was hoping to get a larger plant though... sigh... let me wait a little bit... bellarosa - please post a pic! I am dying to see that red bloom!

Calloway's in McKinney has the rainbow knockouts in 2 gallon pots for half off! Actually all their roses are half price. Plus you could you use the 50% coupon talked about in another thread! I just got a 2 gallon Madame Antoine Mari for $6.25 plus an additional 20% for Friday Happy Hour. An absolute steal! :) They also had Buff Beauty, Carefree Beauty, Mrs. Dudley Cross and Nearly Wild along with some Hybrid Teas.

I will match you an orange for your orange, Jenn. This one surprised me with a bloom. I have waited since 2010 for a bloom of this. The big drought did them in and it has just now come back. I am so surprised. I have seen the leaves of it for years and been sad that I never got a bloom. It is a Hippeastrum puniceum. I grew these plants when I lived in Hawaii and when I moved , I gave them to a woman in '76. She then moved from her house and it became a tourist trap botanical garden/nursery. I was there and saw these phillipino women weeding the bulbs out. They said they were "weeds" . I told them to hand them over . That I had planted them there in '76 in Pulani's back yard. They all knew Pulani so they gave them to me and I brought them to there new home in Texas. I think it was 2005. I bet they wish they were still in their old digs. LOL. I love their curves. So delicate for an amaryllis. The orange has a sherbet to them too. They are not weeds in my garden.

I actually have Double Pink Knockout. I got it from White Flower Farm this spring. I like it very much! It is very pretty, prettier than regular D Knockout in my opinion. Its not, perhaps, as great as the original single Knockout - its not the same kind of non-stop bloom machine (but then of course, my plant is young, and this is just its first year). The color is very bringht, good in hot sun. No disease problems or anything like that. I do have it planted in a sort of difficult spot (pretty bad, dry soil and roasting sun for most of the day) and it seems to be holding its own quite well.

Yes, where I was working got theirs in two weeks ago, and as of last Saturday there was only 3 left (of 15).

Yes, I have found them in a local nursery. They were in 3 gallon pots and my goodness, they surely were demanding premium prices!!! ($44.99 each!!!)

I love my Double Knockout roses, and I would love to have the pink DKO roses too!

Yikes, $44.99 is a little steep. I remember when they got the Double Red Knockouts in, they were $29.99, so that's what I'm expecting the Double Pink Knockouts to be. I really want one, but I don't think I would pay $44.99.
