Beth - I received my Hortico order yesterday, also. Frederic Mistral, Alec's Red and Peter Mayle. They look healthy, but compared to Palatine, big difference. Mine looked like it had been opened too, but they were well packed. I was wondering how much difference overall the plant size makes? I was expecting them to be on the small side, so that wasn't a surprise. However, the International fees I was charged totaled around $14.00, they were less than a $1.00 each on Palatine and Pickering orders.

I was off for the day so it was now or never on getting those daffodil bulbs in the ground. There was a rock-like frozen layer in places - I was stubborn enough to dig through. My plan was for alternating daffodils every other square foot along my fence. When I was done I still had tons left! I probably planted about 80 in front of the fence, but I had 186. So, 100 more to go... I put the mixed trumpet under the bushes (left over from HD sale), the split trumpet in the front garden bed and the doubles are......everywhere. The front, the side, the back, the woods. In the future I will go for more variety and less numbers. Remind me of this next November during the sales. Now I am off to start my hosta order (I am in desperate need of giant ones - Krossa Regal, Sagae, Liberty!) I have also been ruminating about directly sowing cyclamen coum seeds outdoors and I think I am going to go for it. ::::grins::::

Oh dear. The northern people are catching up to we more southern people and I for one am not caught up at all yet. They are calling for more freezing weather this week-end, but not down in the mid 20's (I hope). I just finished taking all my smaller pots from the garage to outside yesterday - AGAIN! My DH is giving me the evil eye about helping me move them back in one more time..........Yes, I like Velvet Shadows. Was one of my first when I was a newbie and lived for many many years. I had it in part shade out of ignorance, but as it turned out, it's on the list of those daylilies that are shade tolerant. Will love seeing pictures of it this year.......Maryl

htracyn, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed! They look so healthy, and Palatine Roses are superior quality! I waited too long, and by the time I decided to order for 2021, they were sold out of everything I wanted. Hopefully I won’t let that happen again. First year I’ve missed since 2014. What are some of the varieties?
