The invasion (assuming that's what I've seen so far) has been minimal, compared to other years. Fingers crossed.

Does Japanese Beetles cause huge holes in leaves? I just looked up JB damage pics, it showed huge irregular shaped holes in rose leaves? Never seen anything like that here.

I've noticed here a few leaves have tiny round holes in them. A few others have what looks like leaf cutter chomping marks. A few have whiteish marks on them. Nothing real bad though yet.

Yes, I've noticed this too! Instead of drowning about 500 a day, it seems to be down to about 200 or so.

I have hgad hardly any damage to my roses from Japanese beetles. Their numbers in my yard are WAY down! But I have seen significant damage to the neighbor's linden tree, and a guy down the block who has a garden for a backyard has his Virginia Creeper, of all things, skeletonized. They have been far mor eon my raspberries than roses, and even then I am only knocking off ten to fifteen day. There is, however, extensive damage at the golf course where I work. A couple lindens on the prairie side have been almost completlely skeletonized...HUGE trees, I might add. They are also chomping away at maples and oaks, too, and Dawn Redwoods. Even ferns!

Minimal here, too. I think last year's dryness conributed, plus, I'm hopig, the milky spore I put down. I'm going to add more ms this year in hopes that even those who do survive won't have viable offspring next year.

They seem to have left here, also. Actually it wasn't too bad here this year, but I am glad they are gone. Now maybe I can have some nice blooms again.

Nope; they're still here. I wish I could get get of them before the October invasion of the nasty Asian beetles arrive so I could have some peace in the garden, but that's another thread. Hate those buggers too; they bite!

Been a month now; the JBs have ruined my second flush and the roses are starting to build up buds again because of all the rain, so they'll probably get those blooms too.

Not bad here either and it's a good thing since yesterday I sprained my ankle while planting mini's from Nor'East.

I think my JB population is actually a little worse this year so far than last. The cooler weather slows them down but give them just one hot sunny day and they're swarming.

It has been unseasonably cool the past couple days on and off. They seemed to come out sporadically, but few in numbers. I havn't seen over 10 total so far this year. The rain came about and it probably hatched some of the larvae, but the cooler weather bouts ultimately probably killed a lot of them off. I thought they were completely gone, but I saw one on my mini yesterday, but we dropped down to about 55 last night, so I'm sure the few remaining ones are not feeling too comfortable. Fine by me...they can fly back to Japan for all I care.

I just noticed yesterday or the day before that there were only one or two around. I am delighted since we are expecting company this week!

They are still here in South Jersey & do not seem to be slowing down. They are worst from noon to about 5 or 6 pm. They appear to leave my back garden 1st because it gets shaded.

I have a routine when I walk out, I can usually find clumps of them pretty easy. They always seem to be on the same plants. My Polar Ice is the worst; there are no blooms, something about the foliage is tasty.

They are still here, but not as much as in previous years. They just love my William Baffin roses, but I just go around and collect them in a container filled with soapy water. I find a few here and there on my hollyhocks, daisies, clematis and geraniums. Not too many though. Thank goodness!

We have had very few this year as well (I bet I have seen less than 10). Our weather has been different than the last few years so I am guessing that is causing the decrease here (rain as opposed to drought, cooler - haven't hit 90 yet this month and had lows the last few nights that we haven't seen in 80 years so they say). Whatever caused it my roses are happy!!
