Climbing Rose By Front Walkway / Front Door

I want to plant a climbing rose by our front walkway/entrance area. I think it'll be stunningly beautiful.

However.... then I began to think about what it will look like in winter, when it isn't in bloom. Hmmm.....

Any thoughts on that? From a "landscaping", "design" point of view, isn't it better to have plantings at the front walkway, entry area that are non-deciduous?

Does anyone have something like this (showy, speciman rose in predominant place by front entry way), and what do you think about how it looks when it isn't in bloom (or leaf out) for 5 or 6 months a year?

Miss Mary
