What a relief! I looked at their list and, except for Mary Guthrie, there weren't any offerings that I just couldn't live without, and I hope Mary Guthrie will be available somewhere else at some time. However, if I lived nearby and didn't have to pay shipping and handling from the other side of the country I would be sprinting over there right now. So many of these roses you really have to see to appreciate them, and at that price my trunk would probably be full.

I am really struggling with myself on this. I have no more room right now (except for a shade tolerant red!) but I am so tempted.

I need them to sell out fast of Red Radiance, Callisto, Pretty Lady, Secret Garden Noisette, Lorenzo Pahissa. And then I can quit looking over the list, though Old Master looks interesting too.

I don't think you can find a better deal anywhere. This is my first order with RU. I have been hesitant on ordering with them, as you have to email/call for availability and such, and no online payment. But Pat is so prompt with emails, it is a breeze to order, and she is very accomodating.
They are scheduled to ship on the 10th, can't wait!

Ingrid, I know how you feel. If shipping weren't high for Vintage to get roses out here, I'd order a couple.

Even though I have WAY too many roses to plant, I had to take advantage of the sale to add to my endangered David Austin collection (I ordered all of the ones they listed) ... and add Mme Butterfly to the HT garden ... and High Noon sounds intriguing. I'm hopeless.

I really hate RU website. I may want some of those roses..but I don't know the colors. If anyone knows any yellows, peaches, YBs..orange..let me know. I do have time to look every one up

I guess we're all hopeless. I couldn't find any I truly, truly wanted so decided I couldn't order. Then yesterday I said to myself, "Self! They're $4 a piece!! Find some!!" So I did. Easy as pie.

Alister's Gift - Light pink Hybrid Gigantea by Viraraghavan named for Alister Clark and bred from 2 of his roses

The Reeve - An old Austin that grows well in a friend's garden here in town. Not BS proof but decent. I'm so thrilled to have a David Austin rose in my garden - even though I'll probably have to tuck him in between Gen Gallieni and Blumenschmidt to hide his sometimes bare canes. I don't want to hear that he won't be a good color match there. It's the only spot available.

Suitor - an Alister Clark pink polyantha. Unfortunately, don't know more than that except he's supposed to be a good bloomer, small and healthy.

If anyone grows any of these, I'd love to hear what you think of them.

I have Alister's Gift and here in costal socal is great. Always flowers on it, but it will get huge, mine is almost 8X4 feet after 2 years in the garden and it cuts beautifully!

Simona, that sounds great. Are the flowers also very large? They look like it in the photos on HMF. Do you have it growing as a climber or a bush?

The flowers are fairly big but not as a modern HT. I grow mine as big bush the canes are very stiff.

I am having difficulty looking up all of the varieties and their website does not seem to have descriptions for them either.
Does anyone know if they have a climber that is OK in zone 4?

Leander is absolutely gorgeous and an immense shrub-climber, healthy foliage. It's really mostly a once-blooming, but you will get some autumn bloom and the hips are spectacular: huge bright orange fruits. It's one of the best Austins.

Well, you guys beat me out to all of my selections, even the second choices. All sold out! Oh, well, I guess I needed the money to put toward the 16 azaleas, 2 coneflowers and the Bleeding Heart vine that I bought today.
