Zamioculcas Zamiifolia - New growth on ZZ plant is browning?

Hi Guys

I'm a little stumped on this one as I cannot find any relevant information online or in any past postings.

I have four ZZ plants now and all but one are doing great.

I have one ZZ that has five new shoots (most compared to any of my other ones) The problem is that they have stayed light green for quite some time (compared to new growth on my other plants) and the tips of the new growth that are still to be unraveled are browning (not like leaf tip browning but almost rotting). Also, on the tallest new growth shoot, the stem has horizontal brown slits from top to bottom (sorry do n't really know how to explain this one) none of the other stems have this and it looks almost like the whole stem may harden like a tree trunk.

My friend borrowed my camera but as soon as I get it back I will try posting a picture

This might be way off but have you considered 'leaf scorch'? It has a distinctive mark like a triangle or diamond on the tip of the leaf. Usually there is a yellow band between it and the green part of the leaf.

Google it for some photos and see if it looks like your problem. There are several causes, bacteria, or wind, or drought.

maybe not enough light to harden off foliage ,, common when plants are grown indoors.

I don't know that it's really a caudex, rather than an abnormally thick & stout stem which I've heard/read is for water storage). Also don't know abt the formal definition of a succulent, but that's certainly how I treat mine. Infrequent watering & medium to lower light. I have 4 or 5, have started most from single leaves, tho' also started several from a bare stem. The bare stem will develop root nodes if just stood up in open air in a dry & enpty pot or vase. They also start well in water & will develop a small round tuber reminiscent of a green pea at the base of the stem, given time also roots as well. Then I've just put it into mix.

I am in So. Cal. and have 2 of these plants. One I kept indoors (in a window that gets just a bit of early morning sun) both summer and winter this year, and the other was in (and is now in again) for the winter and out all summer under a big bush where it only got some dappled sun in the morning. The indoor one suffered from a scale bug and I had to keep scraping the little things off, but strangely, the outdoor one has not had any such trouble and is putting out more new shoots than the year-round indoor one.

If you goggle "yellowing of zz plant leaves", it will tell you to remove the plant from the pot and repot in fresh soil, removing all the rotten roots. Chances are that it has been overwatered. That "weird plant" that is growing in the pot is the zz flower. I have a zz plant growing in my garden and I rarely water it.

I picked up a couple of Zz 'Raven', and I am really happy to have this nice variation. The color is much darker much sooner if they get a bit of direct sun. I also have other forms; one I like has a much more round leaflet, and I also have the two dwarf varieties. I have had various variegated ones, but they aren't stable.
