Seeds from last years plant 'remains' any good?

Okay, it is official! I AM ADDICTED TO WINTER SOWING! Now that I admitted it, what is step two in the twelve step process again?

Actually, I notice that my butterfly bush and my Autumn Joy sedum still have some seed on them (at least I think so). What are the chances that the seeds that remain on the plant are still viable? I know where the seeds are on the butterfly bush, they are in the little football shaped pods. But where are the seeds located on the sedum? In the flower?

Thanks in advance for any help.
