What type of succulent is this and how do I take care of it?
Comments (4)Thank you! It does look remarkably like Sempervivum tectorum! Picture from the Internet: http://worldofsucculents.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Sempervivum-tectorum-Common-Houseleek.jpg I guess I should give it more sun, it did look like it was stretching a little. I got it at the flea market, tilted the pot a little bit to tie my shoes, and the whole thing just fell out, roots and plant and all! :O Good thing it's tolerant to abuse.... It's going to be a bit hard digging out the oxalis plant. Maybe I'll keep it and move it to another pot, it looks quite cute right now. :)...See MoreHow to take care of Moro Blood Oranges?
Comments (16)I planted some beans around it so it could get some nitrogen. Growing green manure crops, be it beans, cowpeas, clover, buckwheat, alfalfa etc. or mix of them, is always a god idea. They increase soil fertility and structure, help to keep water in the soil, prevent leaching of nutrients. They should be cut down shortly before flowering and left on the soil surface as mulch, unless you want them to reseed. The roots belong to the soil and should be always left there. After cutting the cover crop you can sow another one there immediately. When growing a good crop of green manures, you will not need any synthetic fertilizers....See MoreHow to take care about Pachira aquatica ?
Comments (6)it is a plant.. not a flower ... if you treat it good.. maybe it will flower some day ... heres a lot of links for you ... once you get down past the adverts ... https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffcm&q=Pachira+aquatica&ia=web you water a plant when it needs to be watered.. based on your house... environment.. etc .... you can not rely on someone elses concept of how to water your plant in your house ... Al will come along with his tutorial on using TELLS ... one way to tell how much moisture is in your media... is by the weight of the pot ... when its real dry.. the pot will weigh nothing.. relatively speaking ... and the plant will probably be wilting by then ... and not watering until the plant shows some sign of wilt.. will give you a great idea of how often it needs to be watered ... i water my plants every other week .... IF THEY NEED IT.. and my furnace is running now.. so it dries out the pots pretty quick ... let us know if there is no drain hole in the pot.. and get it out of the wrapper.. so the pot can properly drain .. have fun.. its isnt rocket science... just try not to love it to death by over watering it.. ken...See Morehow to take care of toads
Comments (9)No toads here......but scads of tiny little tree frogs!! They choose their own preferred habitat, typically jumping out and startling the heck out of me when I accidently disturb them in their hiding place! One has seemingly taken up residence in my covered BBQ in winter. For several years, he (or a relative) has surprised me when the grill is first uncovered for the season. These guys are so tiny, I can't imagine they consume many slugs or snails, which are the same size or larger. And while tiny, these guys have a very big voice!! Their calls at night would make you think they are much larger toads! For scale, that is only a 2" wide rim he is sitting on!...See Morejanegaughran_aol_com
