An old floribunda that is totally resistant for me is Eutin. Checking the Combined Rose List I'm happy to see it listed by 18 American nurseries. Quite something considering it was introduced in 1940. Besides BS resistance it is a continuous bloomer,never has JB's and is a very bright red.

Is there a bs resistant rose? I live in a wet climate and it is a major issue for me. When I saw that Sunsprite does well for you I let out a guffaw. I shovel pruned mine after one season -- the blooms blew in one day and defoliated with black spot. Strange, but we are in different climates.

I have Livin' Easy, Hot Cocoa and Julia Child. Each do well for me -- Livin' Easy and Hot Cocoa are more vigorous, but Julia is a good yellow. JC is very disease resistant, fragrant -- 3 to 4 feet tall. Livin' Easy and Hot Cocoa are very thorny, so be warned. I find that Hot Cocoa is so vigorous and so thorny that you have to make sure to prune the growth so that the canes do not rub up against each other and cause cankers. Also, the blooms look best en masse and not individually -- which works because it blooms in huge sprays. I don't find it all that fragrant though. Livin' Easy is a beautiful vibrant orangy color -- medium fragrance. I have one in a bed in front of my house and people passing by often comment on it. I liked it so much that I bought its sport, Easy Going, which is similar except that it is yellow. These are my best disease resistant roses. Good luck -- CJ

I really appreciate the opinions and yes, cjrosaphile, location does made a huge difference. The Sunsprite here, as I noted, does great for me, sorry that it didn't for you. It is really gorgeous. I might not get my changes done right away but plan to get to work on it. DH can hook the tractor up to the others and pull them out. Some have been in for quite a while. Thanks again!

I live in East Central Ark. and my Sunsprite is showing no BS. I have friends who have SP mnay roses in this area due to BS, so I am also planting roses that are suppose to be resistant to BS. I am looking forward to the suggestions you receive, so I will have an idea what to plant next year.

I planted Moondance last fall, and it was doing well this first month of blooming, but it was also the first to get BS.

Julia Child (photo below) is doing fabulously. Very abundant and constantly flowering, no signs of any problems, and, best of all, the JBs ignore it too.

No BS seen yet on Fragrant Cloud or Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Can't help you with the ones you named, but you might want to check out Cherry Parfait and Easter Basket. Both are supposed to be very disease-resistant, which is why I planted both this spring. So far, no problems (but they are young yet).

And I can second Jim on Eutin (awful name)--first rose I ever grew (centuries ago) and I've had one or more in every garden I've had since. Have 3 in my present garden. However, mine have always had a few weeks down time between bloom cycles--but a very heavy bloomer (in clusters) when it does bloom.

Of course, there always is Double Knock Out--a bit smaller than Knock Out, but takes care of itself just like the other Knock Outs.

All this info has me looking up a lot of roses and I appreciate you all so much. I know I said I was looking mainly for floribundas, but does anyone have personal knowledge of Double Delight? Was judging flowers at a local county fair a couple of years ago and someone had entered a Double Delight. It was gorgeous, wonderful fragrance, and beautiful foliage. We gave it Best of Show but I've stayed away from planting hybrid teas for several years now because of the BS. It is described as being very resistant.
I have some Freedom roses that I purchased from Springhill and think they are very similiar to Knock-Out. They do pretty well, but do show a bit of BS.
Also, what is JB's, June bugs?

JB's = Japanese Beetles. They are a shiny green and shiny copper colored. June Bugs are plain, boring brown. Chickens love 'em both!

Julia Child is very BS resistant in my area, and another floribunda that doesn't have any BS is Tequila (2004). I don't hear much about Tequila and it is a really great rose. I have them in the same area and they look nice together.

Double Delight is, indeed, a gorgeous HT. I have two--just because I love them. However, it is NOT "very disease-resistant." It is not the worst disease magnet in the world, but you will definitely have to spray it with some regularity.

As you know, disease resistance in another state is useless information for you. So with that, in NYC, Double Delight is not disease resistant in the slightest. I got rid of it.

Hot Cocoa and Livin Easy don't entirely defoliate but if you don't spray, they look pretty sad. And they're super thorny so I don't want them in my garden, even tho I like the look of Hot Cocoa.

Very Disease resistant for me, which means little to no BS, are Knockout, Mons Tillier, and Crepuscule. It may be too cold in your area to grow those, but Prairie Harvest, Prairie Sunrise, and Gruss an Aachen are quite resistant too. They blackspot, but probably no more than 25% of the leaves and they still look like live roses rather than a collection of sticks. Ditto Morning has Broken and La Marne - the latter being almost as good as the first group.

I SP'd my Sunsprite due to Witches Broom that it and a Hot Cocoa developed in my original rose bed. Sunsprite was already on the SP list as it was a BS magnet and the blooms blew in one day after blooming and the bush itself was not very vigorous growing either. I replaced the Hot Cocoa last year and so far the new plant isn't near as good as the first one I had which is a bummer.
I grow Julia Child and Moondance as well and have found them to be very healthy, but I do spray every three weeks to make sure they stay that way. JC is a favorite yellow floribunda for alot of rosarians. I like it, but not as much as many other floribundas that I grow. DayBreaker and Our Lady of Guadalupe are my favorites and I have not seen any disease of any kind on them so far.

Someone was talking about Double Delight. . .yes, it is a beautiful rose and soooo fragrant. It has average disease resistance and does not like rain or hot, hot sun. When it is cool and sunny it does great. For me in the rainy Willamette Valley, it is good for a month or so during my growing season. But, I have to tell you that when you see those blooms and smell them . . .so intoxicating, you will be hooked. It will remain in my garden with all of its many faults. That's just how it is sometimes when you are a rose addict. Sigh, CJ

I certainly have a lot of homework to do with all these suggestions, thanks again. Maybe I should post a query on the Ozark forum also and see what I get from more people in my area. Several of the suggestions here are at the top of my list. Will be a while but will try to let you know what I try and the results.

if you want a floribunda and not a rugosa (which are virtually disease immune, except for a couple of hybrids), Meilland produces some very disease resistant roses which are sold here in Italy under the name of "do-nothing roses". Like Botticelli, Bonica, Knock out, cumbaya, sevillana.
I guess the best thing is to try many roses in your own climate. The same rose can be very resistant in a region, but not in another. Many will die, a few will survive, and you will know which to mass-plant. :-)

I live in the KC MO area. JC does well in my garden, although I do spray every 2-3 weeks. Moondance also does well. Flirtatious and Honey Perfume do the best: no blackspot and always blooming.

I do have one rugosa, allopapallo, and have great hopes for it (can't remember the name off hand), but it is still rather small. I would get more but love to have roses that repeat. Guess I want my cake and eat it too! Will check out your recommendations too, artemis. Thanks!

you might try some of the polyanthas. i have a margo koster and cecille brunner that seem very bs resistant.
My area, or maybe it's me, but when i get bs that is usually when i see some of the best new growth.

If you are open to roses other than floribundas, I have several shrubs that almost never need spraying: Austin's William Shakespeare 2000, Austin's Mortimer Sackler, Austin's Blythe Spirit. And in another category (Buck rose? I can't remember), Earth Song.

I live not too far from Joplin, MO--pretty close to the Ozark's area, in other words--if that helps you out.

I must put in a vote for DAs "Queen of Sweden"....this rose is bulletproof, and with no spray. When my other DAs have to be sprayed, QS is going strong with NO BS. (and I live in the Deep South with tons of HUMIDITY plus we've been in a drought, although you wouldn't think the two go together would you??) I also grow "Knockouts" and I've often thought, "QS is Austin's version of a Knockout" ...this has been my experience lately..

I'd suggest visiting your local stores and nurseries--this late in the season many potted plants will show signs of disease. A clean plant among dozens of diseased plants is an excellent sign of disease resistance.
