normal flowering for this plant

Oh, you got to take the pick of the litter, huh? Well, living in Oklahoma doesn't allow me the liberty of driving to NC solely for the purpose of picking out a plant at PD. Darn it! Mine came in a 4" pot, about 2' tall. It is now about 3' tall, but only has 3 leaves on it. I have been fertilizing with the high phosphorus fert., but had to quit about a month ago because fall and frost is fast approaching. Hopefully next year will bring a lot more growth to it. I have tons of offsets and growth on my macrorhiza this year! Susan

I am oon my second set of Thai Giants. bought the first two from and wintered them over in the pot for 2 yrs. I do domestic and wildlife rescue and had an extremely large emergency rescue of 13 cats! YIKES!!! Well needless too say the rescue kitties were not very nice too my thai's and well.. they have died! The kitties were all adopted out, but my plants suffered major casualties! I bought a new thia giant this year, from a local nursery, and I am dying to get this sucker in the ground but want ideal conditions for it. I plan to dig it up for the winter season but want this sucker to have the best spot in the yard. So maybe a few tips on getting mine to look that fabulous?? I have read a lot about them for the past few years but no one can really give me some ideal growing conditions that are tried and true. can u lend a little advice on how yours is planted, light, soil, acidity ect..???

How could I have forgotten! A more suitable choice for that climate may well be some of the new hybrids released by briansbotanicals! Noble gigante Dragon heart And... Future releases! I don't know how these handle the lower humidity, I do know these 2 can handle much more sun than the Thai giant, and can still achieve massive size! As one parent is Thai giant, under differnt light the leaves may be green purple black in varies shades and hues, some bright, others dusty, usually combinations of all those, and the future releases he's got under trial look great! There's also jacks giant, it's a super sized regular colocasia esculenta, it still wants some shade but may do very well for you I'd order directly from his site.
