Drainage problem in backyard

judyla

Our condo is 8 years old and apparently they had to blast it out to build the foundation which was built on stone .. my yard slopes in the middle downwards. We tried planting a Maple Tree in the spring and now the leaves are slowly dying off. The tree isn't dead yet but it's not going to survive in the spot we have it. I dug up part today and the drainage is poor. Probably due to the slop and that there is a lot of clay .. I just had another shrub that I planted a week ago almost die off that was further across and down from it and I don't think I am going to easily grow anything in my small backyard with the run off water and poor drainage.

Are there any trees that thrive in this type of wet environment or is there something that I can do to fix it?

Thanks for any help.
