Wow! You keep finding these good deals! I should be so lucky. I have blue girl and I love her. wonderful foliage and great scent. I also have Mr Lincoln and he is great but a slow repeater so far for me but I got mine bareroot this year. I hope your dh doesn't get mad.

I already planted all but one:) I don't know if he'll even notice. Though he wouldn't be that mad, he would just shake his head. He knows it keeps me happy. He says I turn into a totally different person when I go to a garden center and start looking at the roses. It's my yoga:0)

HMF roses is a great resource. It's great for the photos and general descriptions, but I get a better idea of what they are really like from people who have grown them! So give me your observations good or bad...melanie

I had the same problem this weekend. I went to a local nursery in Overland Park looking for a climber, but they were sold out. However, they did have almost all their other potted roses on sale for half price. I picked up a new Moondance in flower for $10. If you are in Omaha, we are not that far south. It is only a day trip if you think you have to have more. I know; I'm enabling.

As to the varieties you bought, Jack Frost, if you have the hybrid tea version, is a decent garden rose. When I had it many years ago, I got it from Armstrong. However, at the time it was not a variety registered with ARS and therefore could not be shown in a show. The situation may be different now. Old Timer was one of the earlier apricot to bronzey colored varieties that had fairly large flowers. Dolly Parton is basically Fragrant Cloud on steroids. Color is somewhat similar, but the fragrance is all there but on larger flowers. Blue Girl is also known as Cologne Carnival and is a fairly decent garden rose. Mister Lincoln wants to grow tall and upright, but I have always had problems with wintering him over. I don't have him any more. Electron is probably the best of the bunch. It is quite sturdy for the most part and has lots of bright pink flowers. It will bloom in sprays if you don't disbud it, a project that may have you up late at night. Don't be surprised if it has flowers with split centers its first year until it gets established. Then it can settle down. Its ultimate height for me has been around 3 to 4 ft. It also has plenty of thorns in case you need a burglar deterrent. I have had good luck with Electron. It's a nice one.

I could not find a lot of info on that one, though it is on HMF. I pretty much just grown roses for their beauty and fragrance and therapy too:0) melanie

I experience the same phenomenon everytime I go to a place with plants. Somehow they seem to leap into my buggy. I try to be good and not even get a buggy- but they leap into my arms! I can be seen wandering around looking like an idiot, grapling with plants filling each crook of my arms. The salespeople ask if I want a buggy and I go "No! No telling what all I'd get then!" And, of course, there are plants that look so pitiful that I have to "rescue" them- especially when they're such a good price.

What you need is a cover like the kind they use on small boats to keep the waves from swamping it.

Dolly parton likes it hot and has huge flowers with a nice scent, a fairly large rose.

Electron makes a bush the same width as high, a good number of blooms and very bright in color.
