It's my first time and I'm nervous

Figured that would get everyone's attention....haha, just being silly today.

I do have a serious question however...I did put together a lasagne bed serving multiple purposes in the area it went in (weed control, clay amendment, etc)...

NOW I would like to use the space and plant some fall veggies.

I'm just a little unclear and nervous about how to go about it. I've heard some say to move some of the lasagne material aside and put in some soil then move it all back into place, then another post talked about again, moving aside the lasagne and planting into the ground below it?

I would like to try the following veggies:

beets

broccoli

carrots

lettuce

onion (from seed)

spinach

turnip

collards

swiss chard (if it will last I'm not sure)

can someone suggest a good way to make use of this area BEFORE the lasagne has broken down?

This photo was taken awhile back...and since I've added more layers etc.
