Miles, please don't feel intimidated by this forum! We all were beginners once, and when I started posting here, I had never gardened AT ALL! I know that I totally embarrassed myself a number of times, but for the most part, people were generous and kind, and I learned so much from their answers to my questions. I don't post much these days, but it's not because I'm uninterested - it's just that I don't have any roses of my own anymore. I do get my rose fix by volunteering at the Sacramento Old City Cemetery's Heritage Rose Garden, and I remain involved in the subject and am learning more about the roses all the time. I love it that you rescued your beloved grandfather's rose - my family salvaged my own grandfather's rose and kept it through many moves. It was a known rose, 'Mlle. Cecile Brunner', though. I agree that it looks like Bonica. If you google Help Me Find / Roses, you will get to a site where you can search under the name Bonica, and see dozens of pictures so that you can compare them to your rose. To answer your other questions, roses come in all shapes and sizes, as well as colors. This is a rose with clusters of small flowers. The flowers will not get bigger - they are supposed to be small. If you let us know where you are (what part of what state), there might be a rose nursery or public garden near you where you could go in the Spring, and see roses of many different styles, sizes, shapes and colors, if you are interested. I'd bet that first one is CHARISMA. The second one (warm pink climber) looks kinda like DREAMWEAVER. I could be wrong. I tried to get that rose three times and it always died on me. Now it's no longer available. Yellow climber might be GOLDEN SHOWERS? The peach climber I don't recognize. The white-with-pink-edge climber is most likely HANDEL. And the red stripey... not sure.
