Can you imagine going down a long dark dirt road out in the countryside at night on that bike, and with those gas headlights? That is seriously cool.

As Bob shared the Forum previously was more strict than it is today, and we have no active moderator so we have to monitor ourselves. If we fail to keep postings on-topic over time the Forum would become diluted, or could become more of a social site. This is one of the reasons the separate Conversations side was created some years back. Our continuing effort to stay on-topic goes hand-in-hand with other accepted ideals as to participation; i.e. to avoid chat room formats by keeping information together on an existing thread rather than starting a new thread with additional input, and not hijacking a thread into a different direction. Though admittedly at times a thread does take on a life of its own. I am a member of a couple of computer help forums where the off-topic area is more active than the computer dedicated area. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that as I do like stopping in on occasion and sharing a few moments, but if you lumped both together the computer help would suffer, and that is why we are here. Thanks Carol and Sultry!! As you can tell...I love photography :) I did a lot of sports photography over the last 40 years so I'm sure that helps with catching birds in flight. I shot these handheld with my Canon 7D and my Canon 70-200 2.8 lens (which equates to 112-320mm due to the 1.6 magnification factor on canon digital SLRs). Normally, if I knew ahead of time that we were going to go birding after visiting Tom, I would have packed my 300 2.8 (480mm equivalent) and a monopod. But, since I was only planning on shooting gardens and flowers, I packed light. Sultry, I love their "bed head" look as well :)

Have done it on an Old 1969 Norton Combat Commando , with Lucas Electrics and it was almost that Bad lol !

The king of darkness 6V non-visible headlight on my '63 Triumph is why a car turned in front of us back in '74.

The wife and I went for a little low-level sky diving upon impact, over the top of the car.

ewalk, Your brave....or crazy. I would trust gas lights over a Lucas electrical system. Why do the English drink warm beer?

Rday , Back in the Day a little of both apparently Bro lol . Yeah I think kersosene would have produced better illumination over the Lucas 6 volt system on the Norton lol .

I heard that when ya bought any Lucas product--there was a printed warning, it told the installer to make sure that all connections were covered fully with tape, so as to not let the smoke out!
Also, if you intended to go someplace where you couldn't make it back home before dark-- arrange to stay overnight, at a motel/hotel.
