W/Sing Lavandula stoechas (French or Spanish lavender)

I just bought a package of Botanical Interests' Lavender "French Purple Ribbon" (Lavandula stoechas) which I found at my local ACE Hardware. I KNOW it's only perennial up to zone 7, and I'm in zone 5a. Has anyone here successfully winter-sown this particular variety?

Says on the package it can benefit from cold treatment period....and sprout better after stratification (moist, cold treatment). That'w why I thought w/sowing it might be good. I thought I might try to w/s it in a pot with gravel on the bottom for drainage and overwinter it (if it grows) in our garage, like we have been doing our agastache cana, lavender Munstead, penstemon and Chabaud mix carnations. What do you think?

Thanks! :0) Phyl
