Leaves I ordered from Reeds Greenhouse

I ordered leaves from Reeds last week and have them planted. I can't wait till they start growing babies.

Rob's Mad Cat (he sent me an extra leaf of this plant, so I got 2)

For a bonus leaf he sent me a Rob's Pogo Stick. That leaf wasn't very good though. When I got it, it was pretty soft so I soaked it in water over night and it still was soft, I planted it anyways and then it started turning brown, so I tossed it.

My Rob's Outer Orbit leaf was kinda of soft too, but I planted it and half of the leaf has firmed up but the other half is kind of soft and turning brown. Will this leaf make it? It is the one in the front on the right.

If it turns brown and mushy they will not make it but if it is brown and the leaf is still crisp, you can trim the brown off and dust with a little cinnamon and it should stop the brown. I had one leaf turn completely brown except a small area near the stem and it produced quite a lovely plant. Good luck

I would just trim that one. Any bit of leaf that still has a vein in it will grow roots and babies, so don't be too scared to try! I've saved quite a few leaves that way (from brown parts, or from accidentally breaking a leaf with no stem!)

Sounds like you will have some very pretty plants!

Barbara I grow most of mine in full sun. My scarlet one gets afternoon shade but to be on the safe side I'd plant them so they get protection during the hottest part of the day. The sun is more intense in your zone then here. I don't feed or water them like I do brugs. They get fed about once a month and allowed to dry some between waterings. That's once they are established. You'll have to abay them a bit at first. I don't have great results propagating iochromas from cuttings. It seems that I have better luck water rooting with no bottom heat and semi woody stems work the best for me. One problem I've had is losing the plant several months after it's rooted and appears to be doing well. A few other people I know have had the same problem. Enjoy the iochromas. I moved it from part shade to take this photo. When I go for full sun? It seems to die back in summer. This plant is a 4 years old red radicans and was one single stem "on sale cheap" marked down. Others like a purple I had cats killed. For the amount of green you see? It seemed heavy after all these rains to lift. I've seen around town 2 or 3' tall in pots this size!

I was really surprised at the quality of the plants I received from them, it was truly a good value for what I paid. Out of ~5 citrus trees I've gotten from them over the last year or two, only one was not bigger than advertised on their site, it was a limequat (still trying to figure out the cultivar). The only things I didn't appreciate about the transaction with Logee's was that they couldn't tell me the rootstock or cultivar of the limequat, and their trees are sometimes a bit misshapen, I think from their shipping process. The shipping thing I can handle, but I'll always be wondering what that cultivar truly is... Overall I'm very pleased with them, and will continue to recommend them based on my experience

I trimmed the brown area off and put some cinnamon on the edge where the cut is. If it doesn't make it, that is ok, I can just order another one. I found more leaves I want to order anyways.

I was also wondering how long should I quarantine these leaves for? I have them inside a take out food container that has a clear lid, but they are on one of my shelves next to my african violet seedlings.
