Comments (4)Looking at those on HMF (help me find), it will be easier to tell when they bloom as they are all different colors....Except, I cant tell which New Dawn you have.....which New Dawn did you get? they list several. http://www.helpmefind.com/gardening/l.php?l=2.2776 http://www.helpmefind.com/rose/plants.php?searchNmTyp=2&searchNm=new+dAWN&rid=2363&sbSearch=SEARCH&tab=1 http://www.helpmefind.com/gardening/l.php?l=2.1835...See MoreHow long before I give up on Metasequoia seeds?
Comments (9)It's not getting sewn too deep, is it by any chance? Sould be just barely below the soil surface, perhaps a mm or two. I now have a vested interested in getting these d#mned seeds to germinate. You need some more I'll send you some more but for god's sake I'm hoping these BETTER come up. They're perfectly good. You sew any of those cupressus glabra seeds I sent, too? They will need some cold strat, maybe sew em in pots and place 'em outside in early march. I figured slight chance you may not be interested but what the h#ll....See MoreHow long before bareroot Astilbe blooms?
Comments (3)I've found that bareroot astilbe put up nice foliage the first year (and on some, I had one small plume), and then they began to fill the in second (maybe 3 plumes), and come up to a nice size by year 3. Since many garden centers start selling bareroots now, while our ground is still frozen (Z5), I pot them up in late March, only water them when I see some shoots, and let the roots develop well in the pot until late May, even June. This helps me keep an eye on them until they come up to a better size to transplant. They do take a bit of care in this stage, though. This technique is suggested in The Well-Tended Perennial Garden....See MoreHow long do you give a book before you decide to give up on it?
Comments (23)About 25% of the book. Though there have been occasions when I have enjoyed the book up to the halfway point and something then happens that totally POOFS! the magic feel, and I will fasforward to the ending. This is mainly for closure. If the ending is just horrible I then toss the book, but if it is intriguing, I will go back and skim to the finish. Woodnymph, I have both Hilary Mantel's novels and am having the same problem as you. These are books I should enjoy but somehow I'm missing the bus. I havent given up yet though. Re: Garcia Marquez - I really x3 tried with One Hundred Years of Solitude, but was just baffled. I hated it. It was for book club so I did manage to get through the whole thing but decided that this type of magic realism is not for me. :)...See Moresocks
