ID yellow flowering plant please

I'm not sure if this is black eyed susan. I took this picture around 7:30pm today. It's because I have a black-eyed susan ang the flowers are on different height as compared to this.

Certainly looks like Rudbeckia--what you're calling Black Eyed Susan.

I have BES growing here but it doesn't have the white tips on the flower petals--it's just yellow with the brown center. It comes up every year--I didn't plant it so either it self-seeds or it's perennial.

It is yellow archangel, Lamiastrum galeobdolon. Unless the clumping cultivar 'Herman's Pride' (which I don't altogether trust), considered invasive in many areas, including here in the PNW.

Looks like it could be Rudbeckia hirta. Black Eyed Susan is such a generic term it's almost meaningless. Any number of flowers could (and are) called this.

Is there a perennial that looks like this but flowers are red and long blooming? I noticed I don't have much red flowers.

I was very disappointed with 'Cherry Brandy' -- extremely variable, and most plants did not look like the photo that is used to promote this variety.

The pic looks very much like Rudbeckia hirta, and the white tips to the petals is drought stress. This happens on all Rudbeckia species I've grown when they get too dry.

Cherry Brandy at the Ball trial gardens was very consistent. The one plant I have is much like the marketing pics. Darker, but still very nice. It is a seed strain however (like all R. hirta varieties that I know of) and some variability is likely. I'll see if I have a pic when I get home.

so other than cherry brandy, what other red flowering peren is nice? I have blanket flower but the flowers are popping up everywhere not like the hirta I posted above.

Plant Geek, I was wondering whether there are better or worse strains of 'Cherry Brandy' out there in the industry. Certainly I understand that seed strains are variable, but compared to 'Prairie Sun' which is NOT variable, 'Cherry Brandy' was a disappointment for me.

Yes, 'Cherry Brandy' was a dud for me too. Variable color and not an overly vigorous plant. The best seed strain Rudbeckia for me is 'Indian Summer'.

I really like the Cherry Brandy plants that I bought last season (and a few more this year) from Select Seeds. Color was very consistent & plants were vigorous growers with sturdy stems. Color was not as reddish as the pictures but definitely a good red brown which mixed extremely well with many other plants that I used, a great blender. Best of all I got some reseeding & the seedlings looked just liker the new plants I ordered this year.
