Have you checked with Pat Henry at Roses Unlimited? Great place. They do not accept credit card/online orders. Just call them and ask if they are still shipping.

I don't know where to get them now. I only buy from online nurseries bare root and it is way too late. Vintage Gardens sells out of patents bands.

However, before you buy any English rose, do you which ones works best for your area? Diamond Bar, as far as I know is very dry and hot. Many English Roses do not do well in that kind of climate. Do your research before you invest in them.

Heirloom Roses might still be shipping bands, and I got an order from Rogue valley Roses fairly late last year. They will be very baby roses, but mine are all doing very well.

High Country Roses still has plenty of Austins, although it's a bit pricey. They sell 1 year old roses in 1 quart pots.

Your area should have more than enough places to buy Austins though being in the LA area. Try a search for nurseries or garden centers in diamond bar and neighboring cities.

Well, I don't know what does well in your climate, which happens to be mine as well. Otto and Sons has been recommended by many people here, it is far away in Fillmore or somewhere but I am planning to check it out when I have some time.
Much closer to you is Sunshine Growers Nursery in Ontario, exit Milliken off the 60. When I was there I saw Abraham Darby, Gertrude Jekyll, Glamis Castle, Pat Austin, Lady Emma Hamilton, Graham Thomas, Golden Celebration, Fair Bianca, The Dark Lady. They list The Prince and WS2000 on their website but I never saw those.
I will warn you that they don't look too good right now even though they looked great in late april, now they look sad and full of powdery mildew. However, the prices are much cheaper than you will find online at about $12 each on sale and no shipping charges.

Ashdown Roses also has some great roses. You may what to look at the Beales roses and right now shipping is free! Roses Unlimited is also good.

Also check out Euro Desert Roses in CA as their roses are grown in the desert so you would know they would grow in your area.

I know Ashdown and RU ship all year unless it gets real hot and I am pretty sure Euro Desert does as well as I just received 2 roses from them.

I am so glad for all the great suggestions. I currently have Tamora and the Prince. Both have done well for the past 6 years. That is what emboldened me to try more english roses. I will try Sunshine Growers. Haven't been there in a while. We used to have one in Walnut but it closed. I will keep you all updated on how fruitful the search is.

This is just my opinion from what I have observed in my own climate. These roses are sensitive to sun and heat here in z5, so I assume they would be doubly so in your zone. They may do well if they are planted in an area with midday shade.

Rob, I was very surprised to see Carding Mill on your list of roses that don't like the heat. I live on a hot hillside in inland San Diego County and this rose has done better than any other rose, including tea and china roses, and has never stopped blooming even though it's planted in full, all-day sun, and our humidity in summer is usually in the 10-15% range. I think I've given up trying to understand the vagaries of roses.

I may have been hasty in including CM in my list but I'm not sure. I've had CM for for 2 years and they are smaller grafted plants, but in my experience when the blooms are sensitive to sun and heat as younger plants they continue to be as mature plants in z5. All I can say is I'll have to watch as it matures and see if it improves in that regard.:)

Vintage Gardens and Heirloom both have many of the OOP Austins. Some of those are very nice. I also garden in hot, dry zone 9.

Whatever you do, I suggest DO NOT BUY Geoff Hamilton, Mayor of Castorbridge or Glamis Castle.

Graham Thomas, sometimes listed as AUSmas does very well in desert heat with adequate water. Winter irrigation is essential. Evelyn and Golden Celebration are also good in our climate, and have more reasonable water requirements.

Swan, The Nun, Symphony, English Garden, and Dove all are good in hot climates; all are available from Heirloom. You might want to order now for fall delivery. Your plants will be bigger and you won't have to baby them in pots through the summer heat.

I have also had good success with Charmain, Eglantyne, Mary Rose and sports and The Prince (in a shaded location).

I did not like: The Pilgrim--no rebloom, Heritage--flowers last about half a day, Sceptered Isle--monstrous growth in every direction, Lilac Rose--wasn't lilac, Kathryn Moreley--boring, scant bloom on a too big plant.

If you are willing to give lots of TLC, Radio Times can be fabulous, but can't be neglected.
