Put a nylon tie down strap around the tire and ratchet it until the bead meets the rim.

Old-timers used a rope and a long screw driver. They tied the rope around the tire then inserted a long screw driver between the rope and the tire. When you twist the rope using the screw driver, the circumference of the rope will become smaller.

I had this problem recently. My solution was to use one of those variable length bungee cords. Cinch it tight, which causes the bead to seat nicely. Blow it up with no problem now.

Remove the valve stem core. You can buy a core remover at any auto parts store for about a dollar. Some valve caps have them built in (if the outside surface looks like a fork). That allows the air to rush in 10 times faster and greatly increases your chances of seating the bead. The strapped circumference helps, but isn't necessary if you remove the stem core. Also, grease up the beads with soapy water.

I did this twice before putting a tube in the wheelbarrow tire and haven't had a problem since.
The same problem did happen to me with my tow-behind spreader loaded with 180lbs of lime in the middle of my yard. What a PITA! Now I just check the pressure before I load it up (no more than twice a year). But with the wheelbarrow I just grab it and go. It's not feasable to check the pressure every time I use it; for that reason I tubed it.

I noticed that the local tire shop also had the valve taken out of the air chuck. The hose had a larger palm operated valve in line.

The next time I have the bead let loose on a tire I'm going to remove the valve stem and try filling with the blow gun while the compressor is at full pressure. The blowgun is conical with a rubber collar. I suspect that a metal tip would work with a bit of electrical tape around it for a better seal.

I had a lawn tractor that the tire would constantly go flat and the bead would separate after a month of sitting.

I put the appropriate amount of "slime" in it and never had a problem after that.

If all you have to make air pressure is that little electric air compressor, you are going to have a flat tire for a very long time. Its sort of like sending a 2 year old kid out into the world, with his diaper bag, and trying to have him build a 4 car garage! He'll never get it done, and you can huff and puff all month and never accomplish much, except to run up yer electric bill!
That said, either install an inner tube, which will let you use that huff & puff compressor, or take it to a place that changes tires, or fill it with "Slime", a neat product that is everybody's dream stuff for fixing recalcitrant flat tires!

I agree with Rusty. If your air compressor doesn't put out enough air, you will not be able to get an air-tight seal between the beads and the rim.

You don't need a floor-standing two-stage 80 gallon compressor to pump up your tire. I've done this several times with my $79 Campbell-Hausfeld 2 gallon compressor which I bought to power a brad nailer for trim work. The key is that you'll need either a compressor with a tank or you'll have to go spend $20 on a stand-alone tank which you'll then pump up (if you want to have this kind of capability for the future). Otherwise, remove the tire and take a walk to your nearest gas station.
The tanks are sold at auto parts stores, I guess for people who want to keep a gallon of air at 100psi in their trunk next to the spare. Seems to me a small compressor would be less obtrusive and more usable. Speaking of spare air, a company named Bulletproof Manufacturing makes some incredibly rugged square-tube bumpers for Jeeps. One option they offer is to drill a schrader valve into them for use as an air tank for trailside flat repairs.

I have adapted a couple of empty refigerant ( R12 & R22)30 pounders into portable air tanks.Very lightweight when filled with air.Still have one of each, that are full,and have little,or no use for. Much heavier.
