personally.. i would get rid of it ... google REJUVENATION PRUNING OF SHRUBS .... you do not cut them to 3 feet ... frankly.. this bush.. and by the definition of invasive [you can barely kill them if you want to].. can be run over by a truck.. and cut to the ground.. and i would not be surprised if it isnt back to 3 feet by the end of summer ... dad had one on his driveway .... 12 to 15 feet tall.. 6 inch diameter trunk at the ground .... threatening to swallow the house ... cut to 3 inches .... and it came back gang busters ... but we are patient people ..... and we arent fixated on how many days that may take, as proved by my lack of recollection in that regard ... my best advise ... cut it to the ground ... apply stump killer to the cambian.. and go get some nice flowering shrubs to replace them.. offsetting far enough from the cut trunk so that digging is not too hard. .. lifes to short to deal with ugly green bushes that threaten nature ... and for a nickel ... i will tell you how i really feel about them ... darn birds plant them everywhere .. i kill them by the hundreds all over my lot ... the plants i mean.. lol ... good luck ken

hey searching for buds.. is common to any plant you wish to cut back ... just a simple lesson for a newbie ... there is less fear.. if you can see what you are doing ... past that.. it was just a curiosity as to what the plant is.. because it looks nothing like the shasta daisy's my parents grew in the 60's and 70's .. nor me.. in the 80's and 90's .. that is not to say they havent come up with new versions.. but it is key to learning .. to actually know what plant you have ... link below to my recollection of a shasta daisy .... if you google the term .. that flower is a vast majority of the pix offered.. but there are others ... including some doubles ... google comes up with no pix on Margarita Darling - Darling Shasta Daisy .. and Darling is a dwarf.. which is nothing like yours ... whats that all about. ... at this point its simply a mystery .. but it is still daisy.. and the snipping rules hold ... somewhere back down the line.. your plant started as a seed ... and it is not out of the ordinary.. that you might have some weird mutant.. no matter what the tag says ... enjoy it ... ken Here is a link that might be useful: link

I'd advise not cutting it back. Just wrap the netting around the Fothergilla and attach to the Buddleia as well. The deer are not going to duck under the Buddleia to get to the fothergilla. They can't see the black netting, and feeling it but not knowing exactly where it is is very unpleasant to them since they can't tell whether they might get caught up in it.

If the foliage is yellow then it's not feeding the bulb any longer and you can cut it back without shortchanging the bulb. -Helen
