Bed design with Rozanne Geranium
Comments (3)My Rozanne is in a bed in front of our garden shed where it gets morning sun. It's in front of several clematis that are growing up the front of the shed and behind an arbor with clematis and Blue Moon wisteria. I usually plant taller annuals in front of/behind the Rozanne because it does travel gently through the taller plants. I would go with colors and plant forms that you like. I've also planted Rozanne with taller perennials like phlox and dianthus. It's a great "mixer." Molie...See MoreAny idea which geranium likes heat and sun?
Comments (5)I'd recommend G. sanguineum or cinereum. They'll both tolerate full sun and heat but require evenly moist soil. There are literally dozens of species of hardy geraniums and many more hybrids and named cultivars. And they all offer various attributes, including being able to grow in just about any gardening situation one could imagine. However, you need to do some research to determine what would work best for your particular circumstances. There's some great geranium reference books out there (check your library or book stores) and a few websites that are very helpful as well. Comments (3)The hanging upside down is for Pelargoniums which are not hardy and are commonly but incorrectly called Geraniums. If you do that to Rozanne it will die. Rozanne is a hardy perennial and can spend the winter outdoors perfectly happily. It needs no cosseting. However, I don't know what your winter weather is like in Tennessee or if the ground is frozen. In my climate I'd plant it in the ground immediately and forget about it. Trying to keep it growing with lights will do it no good. Its nature is to die down to the ground in winter and regrow afresh in the spring....See MoreFashionable late? Ajuga and Rozanne geranium
Comments (2)Well, you are in a colder place than I am, and it seems that I have some really slow stuff in the colder parts of my yard. The temps are supposed to get nice and warm this week so that will be my test I guess. Maybe we need to be more patient or less paranoid. That is what I am telling myself (as I look at my roses that are making a terrible show of it...8 look damn near dead). By the way, I never could find my plant tags, they always get raked up or something. So I have nooooo idea what a couple of things are, nor do I remember planting them. If one of them ends up being your geranium, I'll let ya know. Helen....See Morealiska12000
