How can I support/stake Very tall 7 foot perennials?

I have a few plants like maximilian sunflower (rudbeckia) and false sunflower (helianthus) that get 6-8 feet tall. They're gorgeous until a big storm comes along. Then they continue to bloom as they sprawl along the ground. How do I support them so they don't blow over?

This spring I transplanted them so they are each in front of a large post, so I have a support. I just don't know about the mechanics.

Do I use twine, or will that cut them?

Do I use pantyhose? (don't laugh I use it when staking trees because it won't scrape the bark of young saplings.) But it's hard to imagine pantyhose long enough to around my clumps.

Should I go around one big clump? Or try to do a few circles around smaller clumps.

Any help from someone else who has solved this problem is much appreciated. Thanks

Here's a photo of the bed last year to give an idea what I'm talking about. They are planted in front of the 6x6 posts.
