Your post lacks information. What is your budget? Why do you believe that you need a three point for what you want to do with the tractor you buy?

How handy are you with tools, mechanical repairs and maintenance?

What implements do you think you need? How often will you be using each implement?

When you provide answers to those questions, then you will receive a much better quality of advice. None of us have crystal balls except for me and mine's in the repair shop. LOL

I reckon, like me, you've got some Cat Nought equipment that you want to continue to use. I don't know if anybody is making new tractors with Cat 0 three-point. Everything I've seen lately has had Cat 1. You should be able to find some used equipt. with Cat 0 - John Deere used to make a garden tractor (455? 475?). My old Power King is Cat 0. There is a web site of a fellow who specializes in 3-point equipment (all categories), and he might be able to help you out. I'll post the link to his site, and perhaps you can contact him.

kompressor: I'm looking for something to pull a decently built 4' boxblade is all... to drag light weeds off pretty sandy desert property. Budget is probably $2,200 tractor and $400 for boxblade. I'm quickly discovering though that I'll likely have to buy maybe a 24 HP garden tractor and build my own boxblade probably.

I might have to just look up where new house is and try to find someone who has used reliable tractor and boxblade (or small gannon) and get it that way.

With you Buget I would look at a either used JD 318 or even a Used Cub Cadet 3000 series tractor Both can Take a Cat 0 3point hitch and Either one can Be had for your Price range or lower.

If I were you, I'd be looking for an MTD 990. They were also sold as "Farm King". These are probably the best tractors to ever come out of MTD's plant. They weigh in at close to a 1000 pounds and have a CAT 0 three-point that is hydraulically operated. These are very capable tractors and are often reasonably priced due to the reputation that MTD forged for themselves with other low cost machines they produced.

Another option would be a Case 444, 446 or 448. These are hydraulic drive tractors that have hydraulic CAT 0 three point hitches as an OPTION. While the tractors are fairly common, the hitches are not and currently command around $400.00 just for a decent hitch on e-Bay.

Considering that you wish to work in sand, you might want to install duals on the rear and have Ag bar tread tires. The Case uses 16" rear rims and the MTD uses 15" rubber. This gives you excellent ground clearance and a larger contact patch for better grip in the sand.

I'm not convinced that a box blade would be the best choice for dragging weeds. I'd be much more inclined to find a York rake for this task. You can angle the York either side of center. It has guage wheels to control depth and it takes a lot less torque at the wheels to pull it than a box blade will. See the link below.

You can set the rake at one angle to dump left and then make one pass down the center of the area you wish to clear. Once the pass is complete, then turn the tractor around and make a second pass beside the first pass and push the debris to your left. On the third pass you move to the other side of the first pass and push the debris to the left. You just keep widening the center of the area until everything is windrowed to each side.
