wintersow only one plant - which one

for my kid's school admission I had to move to an apartment near school, which does not have any garden, just a very small balcony. i can only have a few pots there. i could have moved to a house in that area but that means 200 or 300 pounds more on monthly rent, which i can't afford.

i read this forum everyday and feel sad that this year i don't have any garden. i had to leave all the potting mix, all jugs everything in my previous place. DH has promised that we will move to a new place with big garden by next winter. once admission is done, we can move a bit far from school.

i went to store to buy some presents, saw the seed rack and I am very very sad now. i need to sow something to come out of this depression.

ok, now to the real question, if i can sow may be only one or two kind of seeds, what shall i sow for flowers all summer in pots in balcony. even if i have just 3-4 jugs, atleast i will have something to see everyday.
