I looked out at the roses this a.m. and muttered to myself, "We almost got hammered last night." And it dawned on me that folks here would probably realize I was talking about the weather and how the violent storms skirted the garden last night.

Elsewhere that might indicate to some that we ran out of booze earlier than we expected to.

This is a really strange summer. We're still averaging an inch of rain a week. Some once blooming species roses are in bloom still (Nitida and virginiana as well as one moscata.) And botrytis could be a problem that's just beginning.
