i also hate staking, lol! So I don't do it. You want to lie there and be sprawly, go right ahead!

I love, love pruning. Not a chore at all for me. There's something kind of artistic about it, and it's immediate gratification.

I also don't mind weeding, especially if the ground is soft. It's sort of a mindless thing you can do, and there's something almost therapeutic abotu it. However, I've noticed as I get older it seems that weeding is becoming a little tough on my back. :(

I cannot stand watering. I mean, I do it with first year plants and things that are in the pot ghetto, but I don't love standing around holding a hose. My ultimate goal would be a garden that needed no supplemental water from me.

I love pruning too, at least most plants. I have a lorapetalum nightmare hedge that I do not like pruning (and someday I will take it out) but generally, it is satisfying.
Watering is so daily that while I don't enjoy it, I can't bring myself to say I hate it anymore than I hate taking a shower everyday. Tedious is more apt.

I will say I intensely dislike anything involving the lawn: ie. fertilizing, preemergents, lime, etc. So it usually doesn't get done. ( and I don't want to poison my two dogs) so I have a mix of rather hateful grasses, fescue and bermuda primarily, and lots of weeds. Cut short, it's green in the growing season.

Least favorite: Watering. I *hate* watering!!!

Favorite: Puttering around, doing a little bit of this, little bit of that with no particular goal or time contraints :0)

Weeding,I detest it. I developed allergies to something this year[first time] So I had to stay in and then rain like every other day. So I have weeds galorie. So its hard on me to go and fight those weeds. I been putting down cardboard and mulch whenever I try to get out.

I really hate having to do anything lawn-related, and being forced to amend clay soil. When your soil is red clay and hard as a rock, amending can be such bone-wearying work.
On the bright side, I just LOVE picking out and planting new plants in the springtime. Few things make me happier than that. In recent years, I've started to do most of my soil preparation and amending in late fall, so that way, I can have more time to enjoy myself in spring.

I love watering and pruning, don't mind weeding, and staking doesn't bother me (though I have only about five plants who require it--might hate it if there were lots).

I think my actual favorite chore might be removing plants that are not working for me. Sometimes, it's like fixing a broken tooth--a big sigh of relief that an eyesore is gone.

My least favorite? Trying to dig in my root-and-stump infested backyard. Oh, and anything to do with working among tomato plants. I hate those fuzzy leaves and vines!

I hate to mulch and hate to water about this time of year....those god darn mesquitos are out there in vicous swarms all hours of the day, not just at dusk.

Pruning and planting are the most enjoyable.

Watering is one one of those odd chores. I guess I hate the idea of going out there and doing it, but once I start I kind of fall into a trance and have a hard time stopping. As has already been stated, it's kind of like taking a shower - tedious and I put it off as long as possible each morning, but once accomplished a good thing.

I hate cleaning up after stray cats and dogs (I don't have these pets. These are other people's pets) and dealing with bindweeds.
I love puttering around in the garden doing a little bit of this a little bit of that. :-)

When it's springtime, I'm so happy to be able to start working in the garden that no task seems all that horrible. I've got a little clip on mp3 player playing random jazz tunes and I'm good to go all day long.

However, now that the heat index rarely drops below triple digits most anything seems like a chore. I've been propagating coleus to put out as fall color, and just feeding and watering those seems like a chore when it's this hot.

My favorite has to be deadheading. Especially those I can do with my fingers. Hmmm, that sounds a little kinky. LOL! Least favorite is amending that same awful clay I share with Vicki7 down the road in GA. Also trying to find a space between tree roots big enough for planting is a constant aggravation. I guess digging in general is a chore in my garden.

I guess it depends on when you ask. [g] As others have pointed out, in the spring, very little seems like a chore. When it's hot, staying inside in the A/C is where I want to be. As long as I pace myself and keep doing a little bit every day, most jobs are a pleasant distraction. I don't mind digging and planting and I enjoy watering by hand, and deadheading up to a point. For some odd reason, I don't want to fertilize. I find that tedious, I don't know why. And I don't look forward to 'bug patrol'.

Actually, right now is not a good time to answer that question either because by July, I am ready for a break from gardening. I seem to be out there focused and intense, putting in a lot of time in Apr/May/June and my goal is always to have the yard 'ready' for the summer by Memorial Day, which never happens. [g] I want to have just routine maintenance to do and just enjoy the garden during the hot weather. Then when it gets cooler in the fall, I am ready to start a few projects.

My favorite garden activity is deadheading. There is a sense of accomplishment when everything is deadheaded and the garden looks its best. Also it is an opportunity to look closely at all the flowers and plants and to be surprised at new blossoms or find a new self sown plant.

The job I least like is picking up all those maple winged seeds. Even that can become an interesting activity as this spring I had three young girls ask if they could help. We had fun visiting and soon my ornamental grass bed was maple seed free.

My favorite would buying the plants and then deciding where they go. Also watching the plants grow and bloom.

Least is anything to do with the lawn and weeding especially when the trees from hell have drop there seeds in the spring. This year has been especially hard because of all the freakin rain we have had. At this rate it will be fall before I get the garden beds weeded.

I love watering. I find it relaxing and meditative. :)

I DO NOT LIKE picking up the weeds after I pull and pile them behind me.

My favorite would be taking pictures of my plants and flowers and shopping for new ones and I dislike weeding, staking and watering.

I detest deadheading plants. I used to watch my neighbor multi-task deadheading her flowers and talking on cell phone and it used to amaze me. I can't do but one thing at a time, so I envied her. Her flowers were always so beautiful and she may water her plants once a week. Left it up to Mother Nature to rain on her parade. I'll add staking plants to this list
too. I never know when and what plants would profit by being cut back either.

My least favorite is picking up dog-doo amongst all my perennials. The dog prefers my planting beds and groundcovers to my lawn for some reason. Add to that the digestive issues of a Boston Terrier, not always a solid mess but rather a trail of not-so-solid-matter, which usually requires follow-up with a garden hose (the plants, that is).

I don't like staking my rose bushes, for obvious reasons.

My most favorite is arranging my plantings and finding the "perfect" combination. My planting beds and garden design are my ONLY artistic talent. LOL.
