Largest Lombardy poplar in the world?

salicaceae

At one time, this gigantic "Lombardy poplar" in Seattle was thought to be the largest in the world - at least according to Arthur Lee Jacobson. Whether it is really 'Italica' or a related cultivar is debatable. It is amazingly big and old for a usually short lived tree, even in favorable climates for it like the Pacific Northwest. I make no bones about really digging poplars and don't want to start a debate about their garden worthiness. I just wanted to post a photo of this tree and see if anyone else has seen one larger. Before it fell in storm a few years ago, it was something like 141' tall and 34' in circumference.
