The smallest flower I've ever seen

Hello

My Arabicum just bloomed, I got this beauty, I love the colors but is the smallest Adenium flower I've ever seen, here's the pic

That is wonderful, Roberto. So happy for you. I think the blooms are smaller on them, are they not?
Either way very impressive. I guess the leaves being quite a bit bigger may have something to do with appearance of size.

It is a bit smaller than the somalense flowers that were the smaller ones that I've seen, it may be because it is the first one, I the obesums I've noticed that the first ones they grow are smaller than later ones, how is your arabicum doing?

Maybe the curl is wilt? LOL! J/K. I don't know why I keep this plant around, habit and sentimentality, it's been through most of my life with me. Just because it's indestructible doesn't mean it isn't fussy if one wants a good-looking one ALL of the time, yet in a too-small pot. I guess it's just like one of those bad kids a mother loves anyway, overlooking the bad behavior and unkempt appearance. Why don't I just stop trying to cram it into the same little hanging basket? Also forgot to mention that the number of individuals in a pot would affect how quickly the pot fills with roots. There's 5-7 in that trimmed clump in my hand. That's a lot for such a small pot and I know that. A single plant in the same pot would "last longer" but I like the appearance with a ton of leaves and many babies, even if it causes the plant to decline more quickly and repotting to come more often. If it was in some dark stuffy corner, it wouldn't grow as fast, there's that too. There's a whole gray area between just up-potting undisturbed roots and the drastic pruning from my pic. One could choose to trim less overall, or just remove the biggest "carrots." Or separate individual plants and just trim the roots of one. Braid them. (Just seeing if anyone read this far.)

lol, love those pics!!! I hate hornworms with a passion. I usually find them on my brugsmania. To get them off I knock them off the plant with a stick then play golf with them and the stick until they land into the canal. I tried feeding them to the ducks but they refuse them and I've never seen any bird or fish go after them when I throw them in the canal. They must be just as disgusting to eat as they are to look at.

Yes, quite edible but usually ugly, as I said above, so you have to be prepared for that and just cut out the bumps and riffles and ridges and protuberances before you eat it. Tie a piece of yarn on the stem back of that blossom so you can ID that fruit to be, let it set a fruit and see for yourself. ( smile) A few folks I know take off those fused blossoms so that energy that the plant makes doesn't go into the developing fruit but you've just got to see one of those ugly fruits first. LOL And a few folks I know love to see those fused blossoms b'c they know the fruit will be large and they either grow big ones for competitions or just plain like to see how big a fruit they can grow. The instructions are written that way because a lot of people who live on the Southshore of Lake Pontchatrain (where I live), will see the ad. I guess she wants them to know they have to come to the Northshore, where Covington is located. We Southshore people hate to travel the Causeway bridge to the Northshore. Northshore is like the country of New Orleans and thousands moved over there to "get away" from the city. So most of them travel to the Southshore every day for work. The folks on the Southshore however, very seldom travel to the Northshore because we hate to make that drive.

No flowers for me on my Arabicums. My oldest one that I repotted into a Papercrete pot that I made. I just repotted it again into a different pot as it was not happy in the new one. I am assuming it may be a combination of things. New pot may have been leeching limestone from itself, lime in concrete doing something and also it seemed to retain a lot of moisture.
Time will tell.
Younger Arabicums of different sizes all making good progress.

Interesting thing. I pruned a few of my Obesum's last year and again this year and they all produced considerably smaller blooms this year.
Not in relation to your Arabicums, just wonder if pruning that often almost starts to miniaturize as in Bonsai's?

I haven't prune my arabicum, and in the oldest ones I havent notice any changes in size after several prunes
