Here are the fertilizers I am using: Lawn Food Plus Iron 24-0-4 put first weekend of April, June and August next is crabgrass preventer plus lawn food 20-0-3 Put down first weekend of May and July A local nursery has me on this program (however, it is no different than any other customer with bermuda). I just went out and mower again. Still have issues with the washboarding. I paid close attention to the mowers handle and that is not the problem. You have to push way down on it to lift it at all. I made sure I was slightly elevated with it the entire time. Here are some photos I took. I keep it moist and turn occasionally. It does not require as much aeration as in the thermophilic phase but it can still go anaerobic if it gets too wet. I'm a big believer in a long curing phase and believe that this is what makes good compost better. Not all agree. BTW, I think that is great looking compost. Looks similar to this. Drastic mold removal from HE3 I finally got rid of the mold and the smell! No amount of cleaning of the machine would have solved my problem. I checked the entire machine and could not find the source. So I decided to rip the machine apart! The mold was inside at the top of the front and back of the machine and caked behind the drum. As of now the machine works good as new believe it or not! The odor is gone and the clothes are clean once more! If they had used stainless steel behind the drum most of the mold and debris would never have collected and if they had of added a few carefully placed cleaning jets and a special cleaning cycle then this problem would never have happened! I took a big chance tearing the machine apart. I do not encourage anyone to take this drastic measure but I figured I had nothing to loose! I could not keep using the machine the mold and smell was making my family sick! NOTE: I would only use the special detergent they suggest!! The picture of the back side of the drum shows about 1/2 inch layer of mold/detergent and dirt. This would have been drastically reduced if we had started out using the correct detergent! NOTE: Always remove clothes as soon as wash is complete! leave door open and open soap tray! This will help to dry the machine! Many people commonly think of leaves when they think of browns. But here are some brown items your household generates regularly: cereal and any similar grocery item boxes, tissue and paper towel rolls, used paper towels. But don't just think about your household. Ask your parents, siblings, friends to keep theirs, too. Not all friends will, but just 1 or 2 more households helping you could be a bonus. Live oak leaves also drop in the spring, when many people have already cleaned up their yard and don't have those leaves left, but some neighbors probably are still cleaning up again because of those live oak leaves. Being the compost fiends that we are, I think there might be times when it's OK to buy something to add to the pile, if we are short on browns. I think a paper cross-cut shredder is a good investment, and even buying a bale of straw could be something worthwhile. You get quite a lot of straw for that one bale. This is in the case of urban homeowners who probably have a relatively small compost pile. For rural areas, compost piles might be larger and there are probably plenty of ways to get leaves or straw from neighbors. And of course, free is good, so check your websites that have free local things being given away. Plenty of "moving boxes" that could be added to the pile. Make requests, too. People have plenty of newspaper, maybe even old straw bales, sitting around that they never get to throwing away or didn't want to because someone might want it, and if you are openly asking for it, that's when it looks like no trouble at all to contact you to pick it up.
