Roses for spring shipment are just now being harvested so the so the rep. was probably right in the roses had not come in yet. Jungs/Edmunds do not grow their roses. They buy roses from Weeks mostly and contract for the better of the grade 1 stock. Not true about not knowing what stock they'll have. The catalogs are prepared and printed with that knowledge. Unless a crop fails they should be able to take orders on any rose in the catalog. Most will allow add ons but a few places charge a little for the service. At this early stage few places have roses in their warehouses except maybe the growers.

I ordered roses that don't attract JB's so that I could add these to the daylily beds. I made lots of room last year so that this could be done. No matter how much I like daylilies and my other plants nothing out shines a rose bush. It's time to get over RRD, JB's, rose midge, thrips and spider mites. @magizz I had an almost identical scenario as you with Edmunds this year (today). I ordered my roses super early, they took my money (unlike Amazon, who does not charge you until they finalize and ship the actual order), and then I was notified months later that three of my roses were cancelled due to "crop failure." I understand (now) that this is how some mail order nurseries often work, but I think it's bad form to sell a product and collect people's money before you have the product in stock. It's a kind of deception (in my opinion). So they potentially gets hundreds or thousands of people's cash up front to fund their operations and get them thru the winter, and then, when they no longer need the $$$ they are able to refund our orders of roses. I am such a pessimist right now. Anyway, the money was refunded from the cancelled roses. Fine. I took a few days to review my remaining order and determined that because of the roses that were cancelled (by them), my design plans wouldn't work anymore, and I asked if they could cancel two additional roses (I still have several coming that I was not interested in cancelling). They wrote me back within minutes to say that my order is already being processed and they cannot do that. But of course when I asked when my roses were being shipped, they give me a two month range. So they can obviously cancel on their end, no problem, at any stage of the game, but we cannot modify our order after that whatsoever. I sent a remarkably kind response suggesting that they give folks a window to adjust their order further if Edmunds cancels anything so that we can get what we really want. I spent over $400 on this year's carefully crafted order. I can wait until next year to finish the design, but it is all so frustrating, and I feel deceived. And don't bother trying to return a product. They won't refund you--only give you a credit voucher for a future rose purchase (which will also likely be cancelled due to 'crop failure'). Compare that to the experience of buying bands from A Reverence for Roses or Rogue Valley Roses--they only sell what they have in stock, and it arrives looking great (albeit the wrong rose often with RVR hahaha, a different conversation). Heirloom also sells product they have and don't make it available unless it's sellable. I'm hoping that what I do receive is GREAT quality. Otherwise, that's it for me and Edmunds. Thanks you guys. This kitty is less than 6 mos old (born during Hurricane Irma) He is really huge. He sure does like the camera attention maybe he was a celebrity lol. If Im just sitting out there, he isnt as in your face as when you have a camera. He has been a pest lately when I'm trying to dig holes. He jumps in there and lays down so I can't dig! I have to lock him in the house when he gets really obnoxious just so I can work outside. Lily, Aww sad for Lucia that she can't have a kitty. Is there another kind of pet she can have? I remember my dd being cat psycho when she was little. I made her a kitty quilt and she dragged that thing everywhere lol. Your roses will be coming soon then you will wish you had more time lol. I was frantically digging my flower bed today that I thought I had till Tuesday to finish. I made it a bit more rounded on the corners (more hourglass shaped) I still have to amend it. I found one corner had orange clay and found a bunch of charcoal buried on the other side (strange) I think I will amend half tomorrow and plant on that side first lol. I hope my DA's don't show up Monday...They said the middle of Feb. Diane, very strange that all of a sudden they are clamping down on what roses they allow in the State. We have tight restrictions on citrus here due to Canker and Citrus Greening diseases. I totally understand but it does make it hard to get things. We can only buy citrus within our own state. I suppose roses will be next. Luckily, I haven't got chili thrips just yet. Keeping my finger crossed and my green tree frog populations healthy haha. Like you, I am wondering what it will do to rose businesses. You would think they would have enough money to find a way to prove their stock was clean? No clue lol.
