How much manure should I get?

champagne

I have two bins of compost, 3-feet by 3-feet each. They are filled about halfway up, one with half-done compost, the other with fresh ingredients. I plan on getting some horse manure to add but have no idea how much should go in each.

If a little is good, is more better? I can bring back some 5-gallon buckets of the stuff and I was thinking of adding something like two bucketfuls to each. I've never put horse manure in my compost before, so I don't know what an appropriate amount would be.

Also, is "aged" manure from the field better than the fresh stuff? (I imagine the fresh would be much more "aromatic" than the aged, so I'm leaning toward the kind that's been sitting in the sun for a few weeks.)

Any help on this would be very much appreciated.

Thank you!
