Monarda 'Purple Rooster' and 'Pardon My Purple'

I was wondering if anyone has tried these cultivars of Monarda. I really like the looks of 'Purple Rooster', especially.

Clint, I love the color but 9-11 inches tall seems like a planting waste for that kind of flower. Just my two cents worth!

Hi Kim, I have some monarda fistulosa seeds, which I'm interested in trading for your pink and/or purple fragrant nicotiana. I just bought these winter (pardon my language) boots

My Raynaud's started in my feet about 30 years ago. Moved to my hands quite a bit later. But these days my feet aren't a problem at all because I wear these disposable foot warmers every day. I go through at least one pair a day during the winter and early spring. They're adhesive, so they stick on my socks. They do a great job. My hands, however, are a constant problem. I've tried many approaches, and this winter I'm going to use more disposable hand/body warmers. I think they helped at the end of last season. But overall, last winter was the worst for my hands. For the first time, I got sores on the pads of my fingers as well as on the tops and sides. Using my fingers for anything was torture. Six of my fingernails are still deformed from damage suffered last winter. Ugh. Enjoyingspring, if you haven't tried the adhesive toe warmers, you should. I highly recommend them!

Pardon My Purple is the small variety and Purple Rooster is 3 feet tall. I think I linked to the wrong one.

I think they both are beauties. I will be getting both of them in the future.

I'm growing it this year and love it. Mine is about 3 feet tall with no mildew at all, my other Monarda's especially Jacob Cline look terrible.

I'm growing Grand Parade, which is a new one that looks a lot like these two. It gets about 18". Gorgeous color. Love it. We'll see if it comes back next year.

So far, I have tried many of the dwarf varieties of Monarda and they either get mildew or die off or both. I may try one or both of these new ones you mention, particularly 'Purple Rooster'. My latest to die was Grand Parade. 'Jacob Cline', 'Gardenview Scarlet', and 'Bluestocking' all grow just fine for me.
