I have heard RP is a sparse bloomer.

My RP is 3 y.o. too. Last year I probably had 9 blooms all year. This year I threatened it and it is working on its second flush. So that is probably about 15 blooms already. I think the difference for me this year is age and I think it is a heavy feeder( more fertilizing this year).If it continues to bloom like this I will spare it otherwise it is SP time.

How tall is yours? Mine is over 6 feet tall already this year despite being pruned to 18 inches this spring.

I had it for awile and shovel prunned it last year. Not much for blooms and then they just blow completely in one day. The blooms were pretty when they were there but I need more from my roses than such poor preformance.

Radiant Perfume was a dog here also. A nice plant that was quite hardy and healthy for a yellow, but refused to flower even when threatened.

I forget: I either set it out on an ice flow to die or replanted it in the "one last chance" spot behind the garage.

Mine is around 4 feet, but I consider that to be huge for zone 5 in May. It has very strong, long canes. It sounds like most people did not have much luck with it either. I should know better than to trust an unproven J and P rose!! They will market any piece of crap they think they can sell. I will never forget when I ordered Vanilla Perfume from them (I think that was the name)Well, it wasn't vanilla, or any other scent, and never got more than 18" tall. What a relief when I put that one out of its misery! It's going to be harder to kill this one, because the plant looks so good. However, at some point, I probably will.

Radiant Perfume here is kinda a dog - but then again it's planted in a location under a vigorous climber where it has to reach to find ANY sunlight. It does that and completely surprises me when I see a big ol yellow bloom up in the 4th of July climber. The blooms are big on this one, so that is prolly why we have to wait so long between them. And it's the only yellow with significant fragrance that I know of.

I've had good luck with it in So Cal. It has a delicious butter-yellow color with a strong vanilla perfume. It is not a heavy bloomer, but the blooms are worth it. My main problem is that the rose bush is next to the perfumed-path sidewalk, and the passers-by tend to rip off the blooms. Here are some pix from today. the Radiant Perfume is the bright yellow bloom, with Tahitian Sunset and Double Delight behind it.

ooh love the pics. You are right that it is the yellow with the strongest fragrance.

The bush does look great here. Nice clean leaves etc. We shall see what she does this year. I have a huge pot ghetto just waiting for a spot.LOL!

Don't be fooled! That lovely yellow rose will look that way for about an hour!! They are the shortest lived roses on the planet.

Well, here she is a day later, not blown yet, her fragrance even better than yesterday. She'll probably last a couple of more days if someone walking by doesn't decide to elope with her.
