Saying Hello!

I just wanted to say hello and re-introduce myself. I tried to log in under my old name and it didn't work so...instead of being Twin Oaks Farm...I'm now Twin Oaks!

I was a long time member who drifted away while I started a business. Got that started and now it's time to get back into gardening!

The one thing I have practiced all along is Trudi's winter sowing!

Anyhoo....hello everybody! I am thrilled to be back amoung you!

Thanks for the welcome! I immediately went to check the soil pep when I read your comment. Luckily I didn't see any thing of what you describe, but I think I will screen it before making a big batch just in case. Thanks for the heads up! Also, the worm castings I am using is not what you see at the big box stores in the bag. This is literally 100% pure worm droppings with zero added compost or anything else. It's literally only a couple tablespoons per gallon. I'll attempt to post a picture of the bag from my phone. Therefore I'm still considering using peat in the mix. If anything, maybe I'll cut the compost ratio down to .5 making it a 3:1:1:.5 mixture. Will see.

He is so smart. Also the first dog we’ve had that actually watches TV. He recently went to be groomed. His winter sweater really matted his fur so had to be scalped. Looks so puny! I'm so sorry to hear that Tally passed. She was a lovely person. I started becoming interested in plants and joined GardenWeb about 12 years ago. At that time I had an office job and hated it. There is a long story... I decided life is too short to hate your work... quit my job... travelled and worked at different State and National Parks... did some conservation work... every time I came across a new plant I had to look it up and learn about it. I still love learning new things about plants. This world is so diverse; there will always be more to learn. Now I work at a plant nursery and although the pay is terrible compared to my old office job, I enjoy my work. Customers often ask me how I learned so much about plants and I always just say I like plants so I started researching them on the internet to learn more. Here's a few plant pics: My front yard (a work in progress; I just bought the place 2 years ago and it was all weeds), the butterfly garden, and one of my favorite cacti: curly epiphyllum who is in the garage during this cold weather. As you can probably tell; I really love epiphytic cacti!

Thanks for posting some new pictures! He is truly adorable. Count me as a huge fan! Love the sleeper as well! Hope you are getting some rest and able to take some "you" time, but know that's very difficult with a busy young guy keeping you on your toes! Best wishes Beagles :)

How is your business doing ( wasn't it homemade soap ) ?

Oh my gosh! It's so nice to see you guys. Yup that was me with the Kiss Me Over The Garden Gate Linda.

The soap business is going well. Course it's all things bath and body now. Oh and don't forget candles and other house scented things.

My ds is still based out of Abilene. He leaves next week for another rotation overseas. Kuwait this time. I'll breath a sigh of relief when he is back in Texas again.

How long will he be in Kuwait ? The middle son got back from Iraq all in 1 piece & now the baby is there. Yikes, I'm going to be completely gray before this is over.
I think Linda sent me some of the KMOGG last year & I shared them with a friend here & a friend in San Antonio for her K class' butterfly garden. Who knows where the next generations are going. Linda has made a great effort to send seeds to every new WSor here. She has some nice pics in the gallery too. Really Really glad to see you !!

Just a quick hint, if you're trying to catch up on all the reading, unless you've got a few hours forget it. I was trying to faithfully catch up on everything & get to know all the newbies but I think its a lost cause. Everyday there are 5 or more new pages.
