John Deer L130
Comments (13)I bought a L130 and the guy told me it needed a new transaxle. I tried it out didnt do a thing. Got it home took out the transaxle set it on a bench and took it all apart and cleaned it with carburetor cleaner. I put Sae 30 oil back in it through the fill hole and used a drill with a socket to spin over the transaxle added more fluid as needed to make it completely full reinstalled and works great. The mower cost me $400 and the Oil and cleaner was $20. I have a great running and looking mower now. It probably took me 3 or 4 hours to do but beats the $600 Deere wanted for a new one. If you try this just remember where all the pieces go. I would suggest doing this before forking out the $600 bucks for a new one. I know they say you cant fix them but remember "IF MAN MADE IT MAN CAN FIX IT"...See MoreSears Craftsman 13.5 hp,hydrostatic drive problem
Comments (7)The Model number is 944-525800, which I believe is made by Husqvarna. I have tightened the spring tension the to point where the belt will just freewheel when the engagement lever is released. Should I install a stronger spring? There is a possibility that the belt continues to slip even when the lever is fully squeezed due to insufficent tension on the idler pulley. Is this a common problem with this model?...See MoreHusqvarna LTH 130 hydrostatic problem
Comments (1)Try to find a parts manual or serv manual on that machine - a lot of the hydro trannies built 15 yrs ago were of the "serviceable" type, meaning you might be able to drain/replace fluids/filter - might really help that old tranny. M/W, don't forget to closely chk your ground drive belt and driven tranny pulley for splines not damaged/etc. but, the fact that it will do OK until tranny warms up speaks to tired old oil, low oil and mebbe internal pump probs (that's when you hit the $800 barrier...)...See MoreHusqvarna LTH 130 hydrostatic
Comments (1)Sounds like a classic case of low or old transmission fluid. Worth a gamble to change it before doing much else, but I am not familiar with the specifics of your machine or details of how you will need to go about the change. Have you checked teh traction drive belt to be sure it has good tension and is not just slipping?...See Moremownie
