Best Place to Order Roses Online

Where is the best place to order fragrant, climbing Roses online? I get a lot of information from all of you and thank you very much!

i can only advise you as to own root..they are ashdown, chamblees, vintage gardens, high country roses...in no particular order. i have ordered **alot** from all of these vendors, and have only good to say about them. you didn't specify if you were looking for old roses or newer cultivars, or if it doesn't matter..so if you want to go own root, this is a good place to start..maybe someone else will jump in with best places to buy grafts.i do think that you may have passed the time to plant grafts being in zone 7, and maybe even own roots..you might want to ask for advice from someone in your zone if you get a reply from a zone 7 member..i can't advise you on that. good luck...donna

Chamblee's! I like the small pots that they ship. They are always healthy and packaged well. Plus since they are so small, I can dig the holes and plant 10 of those babies in a day! Soaking those bareroots and digging holes large enough to hold them in is a nightmare. After a good, soaking, spring rain, I can just about dig a hole for my Chamblees' plants with 2 - 3 scoops of my shovel. I planted 10 from Chamblees in one day this Spring and didn't feel a thing in my knees or back. But I had to hire help (the teenager next door) when I ordered those bareroots from J&P. And even with his help, it still took us several days to prepare 12 holes for those bareroots. What a chore! Never again. The Chamblees roses are smaller so they do take a while longer to really take off, but that's a trade-off I'll take over back breaking hole-prep anyday. Happy Planting. Hope

I just got a catalog from a place called Abundant Life Seeds. A brief look at the catalog told me it is a sister company to Territorial, and had lots of their inventory wiped out in a fire, and are finally starting to get back up to speed. What caught my eye, though, was that they actually encourage and give tips for saving your own seed! I thought that was really unusual for a seed company - after all, if we save our own seed, we won't be buying more. I thought this was a great outlook/attitude for this company - they also mention that the fire had an effect on this outlook. Can't recommend the company yet as I haven't tried them, but thought I'd pass this along because I found it so interesting. :) Dee P.S. Thanks for the Crosman tip. I'll be checking them out!

When you go looking for sources, one good place to check is HelpMeFind Roses ... Look for the "Buy From" tab, upper right. But be cautious, too, about WHAT you order. Some roses I know to be wonderful in TX don't "shine" where I am, on the SoCal coast. Rust is one problem. Mildew another. We aren't much troubled by blackspot -- but oh, man, MILDEW! So, you may find that at least some roses you loved in a TX garden aren't available in CA because ... they don't do well here.

...are you in the U.K...? most of us here prefer Trevor White Roses, then there's Peter Beales or David Austin.... among a host of others.... ..here's a link to Trevor White's where they have both those roses listed... Autumn Damask is 'Quatre Saisons'....Damask roses ..I grow 'Jacques Cartier' which repeats flower rather well, and nicely scented...

Thank you for the response. I know less than nothing about Roses, but I know I want a climber to put next to my porch. I'll do some more research before I make a selection. Thanks again! :)
